Nice picnic spot...

Nice!!!

Not sure what side I would hike down on Palisade creek trail, west side by long lake or off of soda Springs rd by Wabenna creek.....both look rough....theres a bridge that crosses over nor fork american to access both sides...

Took pine creek road in the San Diego backcountry. The tallest center peak in this photo is Cuyamaca peak from the back, looking west.

Also out to Mc Cain valley to the overlook. The railroad line in the distance on the side of the mountain is the semi-famous Carrizo line that includes the largest standing wooden trestle at Carrizo Gorge.

Did you do some cliff jumping?? looks like the perfect spot
Not I. I would do a ten, twenty back in the day, mrs surfpig was a little more bold... Daughter would consider that jump. She's done like a 40'.

She's cray.

Then you have to haul their wrecked bodies out.

Yeah. No.

I'm planning this real soon, any tips or gotchas or is it pretty straight forward?
it's somewhat straightforward if you use a cherry picker. driver side was easy since the engine lift hook/bracket is on that side. therefore its easy to get adequate room to R&R the mount. on the paasenger side, i had to place a bottle jack between the top of the front diff and the motor mount bracket to get enough clearance. this was in combination with the cherry picker. i also had to disconnect the upper coolant lines and fan shroud. trans mount is cake.

What do you call that stuff falling off the rocks?
Water.

There is very little of it lately. But in some places it still runs cold. Here is one place where it runs clear And cold...

Introduced some friends to the west and Moab, their first time camping since they were kids, safe to say they have the bug now. Also, a fair well trip for my wife's XJ before she switches to her LX470.

Great night, hung the hammocks under the Eezi Awn, rain rolled in toward the morning hours and everyone stayed cozy and dry. Nothing better than watching people take in the landscapes and see the desert stars for the first time. Really was a great weekend.

Side note, posted up at Adventure Basecamp Lodge at the bottom of Chicken Corners and Hurrah Pass, $5 a person to camp, great place if you dont mind the hour slow drive out. Running water and flush toilets inside for the ladies.

Replace front axle seals/gaskets/rotors with 100 series brake pads. Took my time (12 hours) later job all finished.

Thanks to Dan for the parts.
