I know some will like this, some will flat out hate it. Personally I like it. Purely cosmetic mod.....mustang scoop.

.

You used to have one of my top five Land Cruisers. Today feels like the day I found out Santa isn't real.

So I guess you fall into the "hate it" group? :) Oh well. I did lots of "research" in Australia last week and this one has the best lines that match the rest of the truck and the scoops they're using on the Turbo Diesels in OZ. At least from the ones I was able to find.

I fall under the "I love it" group, that's looks nice!

Yesterday, on the way out to historic Wittemberg cemetary (a stop on the underground railroad) for Memorial Day services, my lovely bride got about an inch of mud on the roof of the Dodge Minivan. Methinks she is ready to do some serious work with our Series 80 when its ready.

Today, I got #1 oil pan off. I learned three important lessons:

#1 - Take the frigging front drive shaft off. It makes life immensely easier, and doesn't take much effort.
#2 - Once #1 was off, I checked the rear main bearing seal. Bone friggin' dry, with no evidence of leakage despite three mechanics saying it needed replaced. This reinforces the idea that you are either a Landcruiser mechanic or you aren't. The rear arch seal, on the other hand, was gone/non-existent, which explains the puking of oil.
#3 - I cleaned all of the old gasket material from two oil pans ago off in 15 minutes with my thumbnail. Some jackasses shouldn't be allowed to turn a wrench, imo. Since the old gasket material wasn't Toyota FIPG, that makes this the fourth time someone has sealed this oil pan. Hopefully, I do it right. I think actually cleaning the old gasket material off the mating surfaces may be the trick this time.

And, oh yeah, this is a greasy, oily dirty job. And I'm having the time of my life doing it.

Went on a solo camping trip to Brevard, NC to do a little mountain biking...

With the pin in the northshore rack at the base instead of the pivot with 3 holes, does that help with the shake?

Sounds like a perfect trip to me. I was just down in the area with some guy from my team a few months ago for 4 days of amazing riding.

I for one think it looks great! After all the Mustang is the best accomplishment from Ford. What year stang is it from?

Another great trip to our place just southeast of Bahia de los Angeles. The commute is what got me into the 80 Series in the first place.
The FJ40 is a saltwater boat launch vehicle. I know...

Isn't that kind of the definition of instructions?
At this point in my "wrenching" experience, I don't even know if I can claim to be a 1/2  mechanic. So I prefer things as idiot-proof as I can get them (preferably with a "paint by numbers" section in the back of the instruction manual).
But seriously, I was super surprised at how easy it was to get my old unit out, solder new unit to harness, and put the new one in. It's amazing how easily I psych myself out on something I've never tried before. If I knew how easy this was (and things like pulling old radiator and installing new, taking dash apart to work on shaking AC vents, etc), I would've started pulling this thing apart months ago
(And spending countless hours going through threads on here and living vicariously through others and learning from them has been a huge confidence booster. My "to do" list keeps gets longer and longer. Now all I need is time. Oh yeah, and that "money" stuff...)

I did the oil pump seal, front main seal, replaced the fan clutch oil, my A/C belt, and drained and filled both diff's and the transfer case. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. I can already see my temp gauge is sitting lower, though I have not hooked up my Bluetooth OBD2 reader yet to see the actual numbers.

I'm putting together the write up on the EGR Delete. I was a novice mechanic. I wasn't too sure about doing it myself. But I dove in head first. Easy peasy.
