Hand to hand combat replacing steering hoses and install new gasket on the oil pan. (Rust in the pan as well). Then took it out on it's maiden voyage with 35s on it. Light rubbing in the rear with the wheel stuffed on a 3"lift. Overall very happy with the performance. :) and celebrated by buying a 12k lb winch from Harbor Freight (on sale for $299)

I really enjoyed the Douglas Creek area. We want to go back soon. Saw the South Sound guys there Sunday evening/Monday morning. Very cool place to just vegg.

Saturday: Went wheeling on Spring Creek Trail near Idaho Springs, CO with my son and daughter. The trail was still blocked at the top, so I got stuck behind a bunch of high clearance rigs that made me feel a bit over my head.

One of the guys in a Taco with 37" tires did say that my relatively puny LC with a 2.5" lift and 33" tires was "the most capable rig here." I did manage to get up the obstacle faster and with less drama than anyone there.

Had to come back down the muddy 3rd obstacle (without an adult as a spotter), and managed to slightly bend my Slee SliderSteps on a big rock. It was a hard hit, but they did their job. Here's a shot after I had driven up the obstacle. The two big rocks directly behind my rear bumper were the culprits on the way down.

Memorial Day: Drove up Dakan Road in Pike National Forest and had a cookout with friends. That's Devil's Head Fire Lookout on the right.

Not the best paint job out there but I love it ... finally primed my cruiser and doin matte clear coat this weekend , I used john deere's blitz black on black accents great finish goes great w the primer flatness.

Also fixed 3 out of the 5 oil leaking spots in my engine , just waiting for my rear main , and plugs grommets to knock out the other two leaks

And yeah I know I need tires XD

I love Blitz Black. I'm going to repaint my custom plate bumper with it.

I also discovered that it's a nearly perfect match for the tone of black used on VW interior plastics (including the 'soft touch' rubber coated plastics that always peel).

So my GTI is sporting an aftermarket stereo with trim surround that looks factory.

Chasing down a transmission "shudder" or "chugging" ... sigh ... happens every time I hit 2000RPM/55MPH on the freeway. Checking the torque converter next.

First big road trip with the "New" LX. St Paul to KS MO for BBQ at Jack Stacks. then back home. drove great, burned a s*** load of dinosaur bones... Twins beat the Brewers... life is good.

Sizzle, that looks like a beautiful run. Looking forward to your trip report!

Awesome pics!

Haven't done much with the 80 as of late. But, did pick up this over the weekend. So now I can dump the running boards on my 80 and keep a few miles off her.
