Nice cruiser. Couple questions about your rig.....Why is there a coil spring on the steering damper? Also did you build the rear bumper wings? They look good.

Thanks. The coil over shock damper is a return to center damper. Works quite well I think with the 315's and 5 inch lift. I didn't build the bumper wings. A company in Japan makes them however I got these ones used off of Yahoo Auctions Japan.

Took all the chrome off the front, cleaned primed, ready for john deere blitz black tomorrow. Paint done, 285/75/16s installed on stock springs.

The cooling system maintenance made a huge difference. Changed front diff and transfer case fluid. The diff fluid was moly soup as was the PS wheel bearing grease. I will need to rebuild the birf on the PS side soon. For now I repacked the bearings with synthetic bearing grease that has moly in it. That should hold till I get to the birf.

I planned to replace the pads with the rotors but the current pads were at @ 45% with 31k on them so I will run them a little longer before changing them out. The new rotors make braking so much smoother. The old rotors were warped and making braking uncomfortable. They had 72k on them!

It feels good to get delayed maintenance done!

Did a little trail riding with my son, in his Cherokee, and a buddy, who was taking out his '88 4runner for the first time since he bought it months ago.

Started my tool box build. Will have two drawers on sliders, still building the second drawer. Trying to save money and use what I have in my garage. Base is 1/2 ply top is 3/4 ply, supports are 2x8s, glued and screwed.

Took the dog out for a quick hike. Temps starting rising so finished early and went back to the truck. Then he left me in the heat and climbed up under the 80. Smart dog.

Buttoned up (almost) upper intake maintenance and various "while I'm in there" goodies. Installed new spark plug gaskets and successfully mangled them; long sad story, so will get to repeat that (but did learn in all this that the valve cover removal is easy peasy.)

Also missed installing the no. 2 coolant hose that goes on back of throttle body and runs back near PHH. :bang:
