This thread should be a sticky, it references a lot of projects and can help tremendously to newcomers to the 80 series LandCruiser.

I picked up some high density foam from an upholstery supply house and replaced the seat foam in my driver's seat. After a lot of carving with an electric knife, and breathing in a lot of foam dust, I couldn't be happier with the results. After 300,000 miles my original seat had begun to feel like a bleacher at a football game. Now I'm riding in cushiony comfort.

I removed my 3rd row seats (including the mounting frames) and seat belts in preparation for the 1st camping trip in the Cruiser. I'm 99.5% sure I'm going to leave them out. This video was my starting point: http://youtu.be/Fi95_TsWak0 The only thing I did different was to go ahead and remove the seat belts altogether, instead of just stuffing them behind the trim (see photo). I also suggest removing the two front bolts before folding the seat up to remove the three back bolts. I was surprised at how much space there was once I removed them.

Yep, removed my years ago and never looked back. However I originally removed the brackets and soon put back in. They make great spots to tie down stuff, etc. and don't take up any more space really. IMO.

Redid my stereo head unit

Used to have a Philips dc777 shortwave radio in my discovery. Sold it with the truck and have regretted it ever since. Finally found one on eBay and went and installed it today.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that.

Got it dirty

Not precisely "this weekend" but had my mechanic do lot of work on it over the last week or so: oil/lubrication; fixed a burnt transmission wiring harness, cleaned the EGR port in the throttle body (which was completely blocked). No check engine light! Woo Hoo! Then took it up to Wrightwood, CA today for a short snow trip / rockhounding trip.

Took the 80 out in the middle of the mega storm with my son to do some puddle crossings. It rained 1.5" over the two hours while we were out. Rivers overflowing, flash flooding, mud slides, and so on. Epic downpours, and the worst part was refueling, as the rain was coming down at a 45 degree angle, and I was completely soaked. My son insisted on having his window down so that he could "high-five" the puddles. Classic.

Also found out that my windshield seal does not really seal in such extreme conditions...ordering a new one, ugh, I hate leaks.

 and Merry Christmas to all!

Steve

Do a quick search for windshield seal leaking. Usually all that's needed is some type of silicone or butyl to adhere the seal to the windshield.

i replaced my map, dome, vanity mirror, and courtesy lights with leds and now i'm blind from from testing them out for the first time in the dark.

Played in the mud.
