How are they attached? Is it something that could easily come on and off?
Yes. They pop right off. There is a metal plate that hooks into the window channel. They won't really go anywhere even if you slam the door or bump them.
they are sold for the 70 series, so you have to drill new holes in the plate.

Oil change before the weekend trip. #nomess.

How do you like extracting (assuming thats what I see here) vs draining?
Extracting is a breeze, just make sure you have constant vacuum applied and just sit and watch the process. I happened to overfill my oil so extracting makes it convenient without having to open the drain plug and make a mess. This applies to drain and fill for transmission. diff. TC, etc.

We are on the Ferry from Skagway Alaska to Bellingham. We did not make it to Anchorage like we were orginally hoping to. My dad got tired of the long days of driving and wanted to slow down the pace. Alaska is a big state! From Colorado to Skagway I have put 3,400 miles on the cruiser, and to make it to Anchorage, it would have been a little more than 1,000 miles up before turning back around and doing 800 back to Skagway to catch the Ferry. It would have been a lot more drive time and not a lot of site seeing. But all good, still an unforgettable trip with my dad, and my mom flew into Whitehorse to do the Ferry and roadtrip back with us. We had a few good camp spots before grabbing the Ferry on the 18th.

I definitely will be coming back up here someday to explore further north. It is an incredilbe state and I know we just scratched the surface. The Ferry ride in itself has been quite the experience. Beautiful mountains.

The drive to Anchorage isn't real scenic until you reach the Glenn highway, so you didn't miss much, unless some time was to be spent in the Denali area. Instead of leaving from Skagway you could have gone into the Yukon and caught the same ferry from Haines. This route is worthwhile and would not add much driving to the trip you had.
