Had a weather window so I hand washed it. Got the OEM toyota shocks installed in the front, picked up the rears from the dealer, and ordered some OME 862/861 springs for an install during the next weather window.

Nice looking cruiser!

Be sure to soak the bolts for the rear shocks in PB blaster or equivalent in the days leading up to replacement. If you haven't done springs before keep in mind you need decently tall jackstands to hold the frame up high enough to drop the axles down enough (even with the wheels removed) to pull the springs.

Thanks for the input. Yeah my 6T jackstands seem to work. The amount of negative travel on these trucks is impressive. Meanwhile on my Alltrac when I lift one part of the car almost the entire car comes off the ground. So different.

2" lift?

Looks good!

Does anyone with lots of aftermarket gear on their 80 series have it insured for "agreed upon value" or "guaranteed value"? if so, who are you using?

Not much action lately. Got pretty caught up on things before winter.

Today I hit 232323 on 2/23/23 on my way down the mountain, and trip meter almost cooperated as well. Last one was 222,222 on the same day my friend hit 333,333 in his 1st gen taco. There must be something to this.

How do you like the ride on the OEM? I had Bilstein's added in 2021 and I'm still having a rough ride. NY roads are terrible though so maybe it's just that.

Thanks for the quick reply! How much of a hassle was it to get set up on this type of policy with State Farm? Some on mud have said they are a major hassle.

Very little.

My agent asked me how much I wanted it valued at, he said OK and it will be $XXX per year.

I also have zero restrictions. No mileage, garage, alarm restrictions at all.

I drive about 20K per year.

Fueled up and gone from the heart of LA at 5AM today in my trusty 80 to make an appt at Valley Hybrids in Stockton. Original plan was to get there by lunchtime and catch a lift from Stockton to OAK to fly back to LAX on a 430PM Southwest.

Mother Nature had other plans.

All of I-5N was closed from Castaic to the Grapevine. Google Maps routed me around on 14N which looked fine.

It then had me cut W through the Sequoia National Forest which is a narrow two lane road with semis on a time clock eventually ending up on the same diverted route.

Conditions got progressively worse with even narrower lanes, no shoulder just snow. I decided to bail when I saw people taking a piss on the side of the road as things got backed up fast. Too many idiots to contend with. Juice wasn't worth the squeeze and by this time, Maps ETA = 7PM optimistic.

I'm just thankful I got the Cruiser back home in one piece. Be safe out there my CA Cruisers! Watch out for nitwits.

I'm annoyed that the snow i was supposed to get here for some good snow wheeling landed in California, but glad that Californians were as snowed on. I'm not sure what to do with these complicated feelings.
