Why are you not using OEM hardware?

Cheers

Because a 10.9 bolt at Fastenal is cheaper. And easier to get.

My weekend started today. I removed an oil filter that I am convinced was tightened by Thor himself. I’d legit fight the person who last changed it, if I knew who it was ha.
Had that problem when I bought my 100. A friend suggested I run a screwdriver through the filter for better leverage. Seemed like a good idea until I still couldn't get the damn thing off. Almost had to tow my truck to a mechanic for an oil change. 🤦‍♂️

Also, this guy sounds pretty tough. Might want to bring back up.

I would keep a real close eye on that. The flanges on stock hardware is designed to lock in place.

Cheers

That depends on the bolt.

You know Fastenal has OEM style shouldered and flanged hardware right?

It isn’t the shoulder and flange as much as the protrusions on them that lock them in place.

Suspension and brake bolts are the last ones I'd use aftermarket replacements for.

“Whosoever loosens this filter, if he be worthy, shall be able to change the oil.”

@Dusten here you can see the "teeth" on the flange. They don't look like much but they bite hard. Sorry if it isn't a great picture. Before I knew about them and tried to remove some without reading the FSM i fought hard to get one loose and i admit to a few words spoken. Then i tried the other side and life was much better.

Dang ya'll are brutal.

My only opportunity for letting my inner a$$ hole shine is teasing Californians on mud. But it's honestly all in jest. Some of the coolest people I have met were Californian.

I am not busting anyone’s balls, trying to make sure he and others are safe. You don’t want your front axle letting go.

Cheers

So much gasket GOODNESS:hillbilly:

Never a bad day getting a Wits End box.

I know what I'm working on this weekend.... Time for a head gasket and anything else I can get my hands on. Probably doing the valve job too just to call it good.

Little bit of a crazy diagnosis saga. Trying to find the blown head gasket and reason for my radiator reservoir boiling over. I finally found air coming out of the number one cylinder into the upper radiator hose cooling system as well as residue in the radiator reservoir.

Thanks @NLXTACY :flipoff2:

@BillyGoatMTB what was that thermometer witchcraft involving the Fluke multimeter? Can the more budget (model 111) versions do that?

General query for the collective: Are the turn signal locations in the ARB bull bar a decent enough spot for some fog lights, or is that facet angled “wrong?” I’m thinking Baja s2 in those locations or that style light at any rate.
