Went through 5 gallons of this stuff to refresh the transmission fluid. Clean now. Also changed engine oil with 8 quarts of 10w40 M1 synthetic.

Also changed oil, added grease to knuckles and added some mystery sh!t to maybe help with the valve seals and oil consumption I thought was under control.

So far it has helped. Normally I burn through 2.5qts on a trip to Pismo and back from Sac. This time only about .2qt.

Swivel hub rebuild, new spindles, discs and pads going in tomorrow morning. No birf soup which is good. I think the PO had done it before me. I mixed up the left and right hubs though in the parts washer, They look ambidextrous so it should be fine. I might check the toyota part numbers though just to be sure.
I’m interested to see how the terrain tamer slotted and drilled discs go, it doesn’t really pull up like it should since the big tyres went on.
Next week I’ll find a few days to replace every rubber suspension bushing with new Toyota rubber. Just need to find some more castor, what are the best Castor bushes to use until I get proper arms?

Front Left and right hubs are not the same. Need to swap to correct side.

You made me go look because I didn't get the sarcasm... :(

pics or it didn't happen!

Oh yeah! I recognized the rig! That was our rag tag group. We parked at 190 / Saline Alt and climbed over Hunter, camped at the Talc Mine, then rode through Hidden Valley to Racetrack, camped at Homestake. Then rode down Lippencott and out Saline Valley back to 190 on the third day. We were glad our bikes were lighter with less food and less water on that climb outta Saline but the canyon was so cool and shaded. Great three days out there!
Nice route. We did racetrack and Lippincott last year on our way home from PVD. I thought you guys were nuts riding up that road. Very cool, but nuts... :grinpimp:

We ended up pulling a motorcycle with a burnt clutch out of the Eureka Dunes road, those big tires are a lot of work!

I thought it would be fun to have someone bring a forklift to a local club meeting and lift each truck under the sliders to see just where that tipping point really is. These 6000 lb. trucks are far more stable than people think.

This is pretty darn close to the tipping point ;). Without the yellow strap, if you went about 6"higher with the forks it would be possible to manually push it over onto its side. Great access to the underside though..:)

Nice, beautiful truck too!

See, there's a lot of off camber wiggle room. I've had my truck off camber enough where I could barely get the door open and it was only about 1/2 of that and the pucker factor was high.

LOL.

Out of curiousity, what's the next step there? I was showing my daughter this pic and we figure you'd tip it back over, check/fill fluids then drive on and check for any mechanical issues?

got it done in about 8 hours with a bit of guidance. I think it'd go a lot quicker if i'd done it before.

I did all this because I was chasing a vibration that happens in the front end at about 110km/h. the vibration is still there lol. but the wheel bearings were stuffed and needed replacing. same with the front rotors. I guess I'll keep looking for those vibes.

After getting my HAM expert license, I mounted the ATAS-120A and made some tests with the Yaesu FT-857D (wired up just on the rear seat from the aux batteries) on 20m. I managed to tune in a HAM station from north america - however he did not hear me :-(

So no real contact made ... yet!
