They blow it off a bit when you bring it in before they apply the undercoating. As I sat in the waiting area listening to the owner field calls, the shop recommended cleaning the big chunks off before bringing it in after a snow or if you've had it on a treated roads for a bit.

FWIW, not much as it's mid-December, they offer a discount if you bring it by in the Fall vice waiting for winter. I'm sure there is a cash flow component as well as a capacity limit in the winter months to how many customers they can serve.
Ive got the fluid film and I keep underneath very very clean but I dont like the residue fluid film leaves, so I may go your route.

Removed this little contraption as it created 98% of my woes.

On way back from Lake Tahoe and stopped at Crowley Lake for gas. What’s funny is I got THE best mileage I think I’ve ever gotten from my truck. Unscrewed the gas cap and let it vent out. I could see from the shadow all the fumes spilling out of the fuel neck. Maybe three seconds of audible venting. Put the fuel nozzle in and it clicked at about $1. Then it clicked at around $2. What the fawk?! Then it started filling fine.

The fuel nozzle clicked because it was done. Pulled out the nozzle and then fuel starts pouring down the Quarter Panel from the outside and inside. I peer into the fuel inlet and the gas is actually not only overfilled to the very top of the opening of the inlet, but it looks the fuel is getting pushed OUT of the tank!

Sooooo happy I have three fire extinguishers JUST in case!!

I get that same problem from time to time. Heavily considering getting the vc120 canister if that may reduce this problem

did you need to clean your undercarriage or did they deal with that ? because its already quite sloppy up here.

I did their "Rustoration" on my Taco. They did all the rust cleanup and film coating... I was very happy with the result. Scheduled the cruiser as well.

Took VX REBORN for its first storm chase of the Summer. Nearly struck by lightning twice. Crossed two flash floods and the third one nearly got stuck so backed out , tail gate down and enjoyed the rain and thunder :)

Well, after 2 1/2 years on the shelf "OSO" has finally got the OME 850/860 lift and shocks I bought from @jp_waltz.

Checked the date code on the 285's LTX M/S that are on her and they are from '05. Looks like timing was good with this one.

Now I have to decide if I install 305's or 315's. I have decided to go with the Falken WildPeak AT 3W based on the research. Any thoughts on this choice and opinions on which size before i pull the trigger this week?
I have the Wildpeaks now for a couple weeks and love them! They are really quiet and I've already tested them in rain, snow and ice. Excellent traction and braking. They won't replace a snow tire but I am really happy with these. I have 285/75/16 so sure you would want to go bigger.

one of my favorite places.
Would love a good burn through Texas. The landscape looks alot like where i live in Aus. Rains are hard to come by, hot as heck in Summer, freezing and dry in Winter at night, great 4x4 and no people!!

Had to take a picture because it's so beautiful. Cleaned up, painted black (other side), new gasket, new spark plug gaskets.

The old plug gaskets were practically welded on. Took lots of work to get out. Best route ended up being hammering a screwdriver between the metal ring from the gasket and the valve cover. Eventually you get enough leverage to pry the ring and pop it out. Nasty little buggers..

Not something I did persay, but my 80 is on the Poly Performance home page for the Toyota link.

Last weekend.....Spent a few days out in the Kingston Range, CA. Northwest Mojave desert near the Cal/Nev border. Hounding for amethyst crystals. Miles from nowhere only saw one guy and he laughed at the cruiser while waiting for folks to get to a lower camp area. Old timer had a Rhino and a six shooter. Said that vehicle is not up to snuff for the area. LOL. I silently differed to agree.

Well, the cruiser went and did a trail that was rutty and nasty with crappy bald a/t tires for a mile or so to get the folks to the hiking collection spot. Yes we needed to move rocks and I needed a spotter. But seriously, its stock. In time, I will lift a bit and get larger tires but this is what I have for now so I go for it. Good to have the backup of fullsize tundra 4x4 just in case.

Once again proving to me and the party, that this truck is a beast and gets u there when u drive it right.

The quartz is found in the Mogollon Rim area in a place called Diamond Point--a trail known to have quartz--apparently this area is the only place in the world where amethyst is found in quartz. It's really rare to find even there. We usually get about 1" deep and then move on. hahaha.

Hunters are not allowed to use any tools to dig for the quartz--you can use your hands or whatever is in the forest to dig. Usually the quartz is about the size of a pea or smaller. I take the kids and we run around like chickens with our heads cut off for about 30 minutes and then we go home. hahaha.

Zona

Actually, amethyst is just quartz with iron impurities. The area is cool, I need to get back up there.

I really wish someone would make a video on the finishing after cutting the wells. I want to cuut mine but dont know how to make it look right after ward.
I will tell you the rear is a major pain in the butt. I knew it would be and it didn’t disappoint. Took my 6 hours today to do one side and it still doesn’t look good at all.

I am a NOAA trained storm chaser here in the states. I have seen some Tornados up close and personal. Storm chasing is incredibly exciting but not for everyone. It is definitely dangerous and you need to know what you are doing. Getting in front of a large tornado could be your final act.

I was nearly carried off in a flash flood in 2002 down in South Texas (terrain is a lot like pictures of the Outback). Gave me a healthy respect for the power of water. The water was moving very fast and washed over my entire hood. It fouled 2 of my 6 plugs and completely floated the truck a couple of times. When I finally got good traction, I puttered out of the water, up a hill and back onto the dirt road which was in the middle of no where (middle of a 100,000 acre ranch). I immediately laid my seat down and took a nap. I was seriously stressed out.

There is a guy here on Mud that lives in Alaska and I have seen videos of him crossing fast moving streams that deep. It seems to be a fairly normal thing to do up there so I guess it is what you get used to. I wouldn't want to do it again. I don't want to lose my rig....and I don't want to drown.

Unfortunately, Texas is almost all private land. You can't cross it without permission from the land owner. One of the only downsides to living in Texas. There are some great public places to go like Big Bend National Park and other parks / forests but you have to know where they are and it is generally a long drive to get there.

Totally agree with you, i run a weather service here in remote Aus and having the knowledge of storms has saved my hide more than once for sure. Was caught between a fire storm after some intense lightning stikes, watched it jump the hwy and burn across in a matter of minutes, we had no choice but to gun through it once the winds shifted, scariest moment (my wife didnt come storm chasing for a while after that)
Whilst we dont deal with too many tornadoes we certainly get some of the most spectacular desert thunder storms and cyclones in this area. I really want to do a Tornado alley run (im sure you have done this a few times) but not as a tourist, just with an exp person and some raw photography.

Also YES! we have this issue here to, every dang bit of land is privately owned these days you really cant go anywhere without permission or heavy restriction, public land is becoming increasingly scarce

Headed up to NH to get the underside ready for winter w/ my now annual oil undercoating.

On the way back I pulled over to take a pic of my latest milestone. I need to drive this thing more!

Those are the guys I use too. I think they do great work there. I'm scheduled for their "Rustoration" process in a couple of weeks. If the result matches what they did with my old Tacoma, my undercarriage will be totally rust free!

This makes me reconsider the LAB's front bumper.. like what you've done with the canister man, keep us posted
I have 4xlabs fr/rear I love them rear swingout is strong holds up a 37x13.5 no proble the front is a serious approach bumper BUT theres nowhere to get a hi lfit on it at all(front im talking)

Not quite this last weekend but fairly recently....

Decided to install stuff from our favorite OCD vendor on the forum:

Then, since I'm maybe a little OCD, i decided for the 'redneck' rear mount....which actually turned out pretty good.

Now both my halon bottles are well stowed and ready for that event we all hope will never happen !

Then, this evening, in celebration of all this work and the great products Joey gives us, I decided to indulge...

You're going to have to fill out a warranty return card for the crystal ware in that photo. It has a chip in it. You may cut your lip and bleed to death.

This could be a huge liability for Wits'End (@NLXTACY )

You may need to hire an attorney.
