What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (46 Viewers)

Cluster of a weekend unfortunately.

I was doing some exhaust work that should have taken about 30mins. 6 hours later and my truck is still in pieces in my garage. :bang:

Spent all day Sunday sorting ALL my hardware into little plastic bins. Now I have 3x bins of Metric that actually make sense...last week 1/2 of that was SAE.

Did a solo fishing mission this past weekend and combined it with a shakedown of my new dual battery system, ahead of a two-weeker through Wyoming at mid-month. I was hesitant to head into the Colorado mountains on Labor Day weekend given the vast numbers of Texans with their fleets of ATVs and RV trailers, but once again, I learned that if you just go the difficult, out-of-the-way route, it's possible to find real solitude out here. Found two A+ campsites, drove a couple hundred miles on dirt, caught a bunch of fish, didn't have to speak to another person for four days straight, and everything in the Cruiser works! In a fit of maturity, I even resisted the urge to stop fishing and moon the passing train's passengers, too. I must be growing up / getting old.

The new Centre diff spool that I installed give you the option of using your Central Diff to lock 4x2 or 4x4, I will be using the 4x4 option only in snow or off roading, I used my truck mostly in City. I hope that I answered your question, there are many good threads here might could answer more of your questions

Wife and the 80 played safety for the 4Runner. (just got it running and according to the P.O. it hadn't moved in 3 years)

Little dude ready to rock! He freaking loves the top off on the 4Runner.

(for the record the drive was less than a quarter mile so save your BS about the car seat not being up to snuff with only the waist belt and no shoulder strap. He also rides in a John Deere combine with pop-pop with barely a "Don't fall off."

Wife riding safety in the rear.

Then took the 80 up for a quick trail jaunt to Buckhorn road to Greer road. Quick pit stop for the dog.

We saw Thanksgiving dinner.

Finally really started putting in some time on the new rig. Here she is right after a buddy drove it home for me while i was off in another state doing some training for a couple months. If you see a guy waving at you maniacally anywhere in Colorado (especially the Springs) its likely me.

Somehow my rear passenger door got stuck in the locked position and I couldn't open it. Like something was jamming the rod from going down inside the door to unlock. Boy was that fun trying to pull enough of the inside panel off from the top to even get in there with a long enough screwdriver to push the lock mechanism out. Even more fun that I had to disassemble the other door just to figure out how the damn thing worked. Seems like something is jacked up with the actuator assembly, it wont fully unlock for some reason...

This didn't happen the past weekend but rather the weekend before. Olde North State Cruiser overlanding trip to the NC/TN border along fireroads and gravel paths. Loads of fun for the whole weekend.

You are a better sleuth than I. Seeing her there puts that whole photo into a more intimidation perspective.
Beautiful spot though, if you can get to it...

I'll ask it in a different way . Once you remove the gears in the spool of the original spool ,can it be replaced instead of using a new one ? Is there gears inside the new spool or is it hollow . If its hollow with no gears then what is the difference between taking the gears out of the old one and replacing it and the new one ? What is in the new spool that makes you have to use it ?

is that pic real?? a campered out fj??
yes its real . There are a few different ways people have done it . Its not mine its just a photo I found but its real . At one time before I gave the other lexus I repaired from a rollover my dad was in ,to my oldest daughter,I was going to start cutting off the top and get it ready for a camper . It only had 50,000 miles on it and once I got finished bending the metal back to its original shape so the doors would open and close and new windshield fit in place . My daughter took it from me ,so much for my camper plans . I'll see if I can find the photos again . http://canada.motoseller.com/c/images/2796693.jpg . http://canada.motoseller.com/c/images/6363749.jpg

This was from last week in Missoula.

Every hotel was full of the fire crews fighting fire. Called about 15 hotels before I found a room for the night.

The smoke is pretty bad huh? That sucks. I am planning to go there about first week of OCT...wonder if it will still be like that. Any off roading trails I should know of?

I think the smoke will be hit and miss like it was for us, lots of fires in the west. Being a National Park, there are no off roading trails that I am aware of.
It was beautiful, even with the smoke!
