now the question is do I sell my 40 to fund my 80. I haven't drove the 40 since purchasing the 80. Land cruiser addiction problems.

Understandable! I sold my 40 to get my 80 and really haven't felt bad about it. In fact I owned two 60 series as well, and really, I think the 80 is by far the best Land Cruiser platform in NA. But that's just like...an opinion!

Yikes! I wondered because mine has it a little around the window and one big spot like yours but on the exact opposite side. Seems like a very random spot for rust. I wonder why they do that
If you can...and you should...fix it ASAP..you don't need the rust to get away from you before it's too late

I occasionally miss my 40s. Never enough to buy another one though...yet.
You have a lot more experience than me so I have to ask...why? Was it the constant wrenching? I am constantly oogling 40s and 55s but if I actually went through with it, I'd need to just fork out the cash up front to (hopefully) not be dealing with too much of that. I'm one of the rare people who actually likes using his rigs with his spare time rather than wrenching on them :steer:

Definitely! Im planning a full on war against rust before winter so I can monstaliner it. My quarters have a little in the bottom as well as a few other places :(

I was going to say, "Nothing, we've been hanging around town taking care of stuff this last couple of weeks while it rests from an already busy summer."

But it's been our only driver for a couple weeks since the Civic blew its motor and the son borrowed the Soob.

mrs surfpig says she gets lots of attention driving that beast around, especially at the hippy coop (I think she likes it).

Thanks to J- aka @reevesci and Andrea for picking my name as the Trail Tailor Customer Loyalty winner!

Springs, shocks, castor correction, adjustable steering stabilizer, hat and stickers.

I'm going to attempt this install myself after purchasing an impact (all installs, mods, fixes have been via hand tools up to this point). While I know @GW Nugget would consider any suspension work a .5 banana job I can guarantee it's not going to be for me.

I think I've watched every damn youtube vid and read every build thread with suspension installs so I'm moderately optimistic I can do this myself. If not, I'll PM @SmokingRocks as he seems to be a magician and bribe him with fistfuls of cash. Fingers crossed.

Love tough dog, Ive got radflos, king springs and toughdog RTC stabilizer good to go.

It's the Mt. Bachelor. I purchased it awhile back and I feel like the current Mt. Bachelor is smaller, but I could be wrong.
I just bought a rainier from overland bound forum, now Im building the rack to carry it plus Gamiviti mounts showed up toady. Rainier is large no doubt a tad over my sunroof

At some point discovered that I have a hoiked up throttle cable. Read somewhere on here in my travels that high idle after driving could be due to a sticking throttle cable. So I lifted on the go pedal when it happened and sure enough, the idle dropped to normal. Another thing to add to my list.

Going to replace the shocks this weekend, ahead of schedule. The front P/S bottom bushing is shot as the shock will freely move around in the mount when I grab it. Lift isn't in the budget right now so it's regular shocks.
Easy replacement just did mine last week ish

I can't believe I'm admitting this in public... a 40 is the epitome of cool. And completely impractical. If I had a really nice 40 I wouldn't want to damage it (as was the case with my 76). If I had a sh!tty 40 that you are always working on it takes the fun out of it (my 77 and 78).

If I ever were to get another one I'd want a patina'd 76-78 40 that was mechanically sound but cosmetically meh so I wouldn't feel bad beating it up. And I'd only drive it in the spring, summer, and fall with the top off, permanently.

And 40 prices are insane. I'd have to "steal" one to be able to justify it.

35x12.5x15s bfg mud km2. Had to run spacers to clear the calipers. They don't rub but I personally am not a fan of the stance being that wide. I will switch to 17 inch rims soon and suck the tires back in a little. I had the 35s lying around so I figured I may as well put them to use.

... It was over the course of a few days, but....
changed the oil, filter and inspected/cleaned the air filter. Lubed the driveline yokes and spiders (1 tube of grease but also used it on my FJ60). Lubed the steering knuckles (1 tube of grease each). Ordered gas struts for the rear lift gate, Centric/StopTech slotted rotors for all wheels, Front & Rear EBC GreenStuff 6000 brake pads, Beck Arnley parking brake shoes and hardware, Speed Bleeders for the brake calipers (Front & Rear). So, obviously gearing up to do a brake job. Yay. I'll be going out of town for a few weeks, so the brake job will have to wait until I get back. Thinking of going "full biscuit" and tackling the infamous birfields while I'm at it since I'll already have the rotors off and I don't know when the last service on the birfields was done.

Anyone know if you can use DOT 5.1 on these trucks when bleeding brakes? FSM states DOT 4, but DOT 5.1 shouldn't affect the rubber o-rings/seals and offers a higher boiling point. Thoughts?

TIA...
