I just haven't found a need to when I can still get 33s on 15s and for what I use the truck for there is no need to spend the money on it when I can spend it on something else.

My exact same thoughts! ALWAYS something else I need!

Finally got off my lazy a$$ and installed L-tracks and rotopax mount on my ARB roof rack.

I have a 2 gallon roto-pax fuel can, but I was worried it would leak laying on its side in the sun. No problems?
Looks great, do the L Tracks have special connectors for them, or can you use "whatever"?

I had it that way on my old roof rack and had no issues even through multiple desert trips. Granted when not in use I store the cans in garage which rotopax recommends anyways.

What do you mean by connector? Mine is single piece and just using allan screws that fit in the counter sink holes so it stays flat and all of the track is usable. on the bottom I used scrap pieces of aluminum as anchor. I only used 4 bolts but it's on pretty solid and I don't plan on putting anything super heavy up there. With the sides of the rack i don't really need the L-track but I had it from my old rack so might as well install them instead of taking up garage space.

I did a long solo road trip to meet my folks halfway between where I live and where they do, which happened to be Bull Shoals Lake, Arkansas. During map research I found some incredible looking MTB trails along the route, so I had my first-ever taste of the Ozarks in pretty spectacular fashion. Drove due east to Fort Smith, AR and after that didn't leave the deep country two-lane roads for fully a week, and managed to camp in a couple of cool State / National Parks - Devil's Den and at Erbie on the Buffalo River.

Undisputed highlight was riding the Upper Buffalo Headwaters trail network. I'd never been to the Ozarks previously and while there's a million small county roads to take, I was surprised just how far out the trailhead was from anything at all - ~30 miles up a beautiful but remote road from the nearest town... of 200 people. I started thinking hard about riding conscientiously so as not to injure myself deep in the forest, solo, at the very top of the Ozarks. All I can say is, what a place. I ended up having a total battle of a 22-mile ride, broke a cleat so had to ride with only one foot attached to my bike, guzzled 3 liters of water in 90 degree heat and was swearing at myself most of the last half of the ride, but difficult experiences are the ones we remember the strongest. Or at least, I do.

After that I met my parents on Bull Shoals and managed two days of fly-fishing the White and Norfork, then kayaking the lake. Great little trip, but I ended up having an issue with a bad tank of diesel (small-town service station seems to have had their diesel lines connected to a tank of petrol) which all necessitated a whole odyssey to find a willing diesel mechanic to help me diagnose the problem, then change out the fuel lift pump, filter, drain the brimming new tank of fuel for disposal. A day late and many dollars later, I finally got home in one piece. I'll detail that whole issue for posterity in my build thread but all in all, 2300 in six days and right around 16mpg fully weighted down. I'll take it.

As more pictures and videos surface, this rally is providing the perfect ammo to get trails like this shut down.

This is how drivers got extra points on the Rally.

damn .. you can tell ..

That was on public land ? ( don't think so )

In one word, AMAZING.

Installed them on Thursday afternoon; leaved for a 2000 miles trip on Thursday night.

After those 2000 miles, highway and trail ride all i can say is that this are the best springs i have ever ride with. I paired them with custom fox shocks.

I had OME 850/863 before ( 1" spacer up front ) and the new coils (with 1" spacer all around) give me 2" of height and probably 6" more of travel.

I had a lot of weight on the truck, and they behaved wonderfully.

Very interesting. I would love to pair up a set of those 75mm tapered springs with my current shocks. Then I could compare them apples to apples against the Dobinsons flexi coils I have now and the OME setup I had before. After that I'd be ready for some reservoir shocks.

That will probably be the key to this slipping away and everyone believing what they want. I know where that is, yes, public land, as our group was driving by while other vehicles attempted it. Not going to post locations as the people responsible know where it is too and I don't want it on display any more than it is already.

Not the weekend but threw Code 28. Rear O2 sensor. I suppose I need to replace them. It's been 20 years...

Received these 2 parts today. Now I got something (again) to work on my '92 80.

Lost my steering shaft bushing/gasket thing for the firewall and ordered another, verified I have a 2mm allen wrench onboard for the new axle lock nut retainer then made a fancy sticker to remind me not to rip my roof rack off. ;)

I got my daughter's 80 back together late last night so she could drive it to her last day of school for the year. Finally got some time and daylight today for a couple of pics

Looks great!
Thanks! Still stuff to do, like wet sand/buff some crud out but I love the color. Makes me want to do a custom color on my 80 when the time comes. Maybe not a huge change, but some cool new color that isn't too far from "desert dune". Although even that in fresh base/clear would be nice. Future dreams.

Yeah, for a year I've kicked around painting my 93 Mil Spec Epoxy in desert tan. Just can't bring myself to invest that much in it. Finally decided I'm just going to monstaline it and be done.

My 92 is going to get the full on treatment this winter. OG!

Wow.

This community has changed. I have dudes basically calling me a horrible person endangering my son and none of you were there to know anything about what went on at the moment I took that photo.

There is no requirement to take the advice of others to heart. You were there, they weren't. I am old now and it took me many years to learn to emotionally separate what is of value and what doesn't matter. Keep the former and take advantage of it. Flush the rest!

I went to the beach with the family. I finally got to try out my foxwing awning and sand anchors.

Freeman park on the south side of Wilmington. Freeman Park is privately owned land leased by the city. It is a free-for-all down there. Lots of drinking and hooliganism. It was fairly quiet on Saturday but finding parking was still an issue.
