After 3 hrs of fishing in the canoe and getting no bites we loaded up the canoe and started to head home. Stopped and jumped out and Jake caught a pike with his first cast. Not huge but it was a fighter. And yeah, it was right after he slipped and fell in the river not listening to his dad... :hillbilly:

So, my wife and I took our 80 to the Main River, where we finally dipped our toes in after a year of walking across Bavaria, from the Danube to the Main River.

Three days, 12 mountains and 50 km of walking along trails. I know 50 km doesn't sound like a bunch, but 12 mountains in three days is an iron clad b*tch.

Marjan, our 80 series didn't miss a beat.

Here he is, pictured on the bank of the Main River. It's pretty much just a big stream in the Staffelstein area, but it's the thought that counts.

The drive home was unreal: If you are fearless and want an interesting experience in Germany, use Google Maps as a navigation tool and select "avoid highways" when making a 160 km journey. You WILL use four wheel drive, and you WILL legitimately fear for your life/sanity at least once.

Now I am at home, nursing my sore muscles with various local beers I collected along the way while admiring my lovely wife's mountain climbing enhanced butt.

I guarantee you it's a pile of s***, held together with bondo and fresh cheap paint.

And 17,000 miles my ass.

It was 47,000 miles and it was actually an extremely clean rig. In the guys defense, not every person is as detail oriented as some people on here.

Well, you'd have to prove that. Costa Rica + Fresh paint + low mileage claim + upside down bezel = pile of s***, nearly 100% of the time.

It's "possible" it's the exception that proves the rule, but I'd have to see it to believe it.

In those words, the pile of s*** claims makes more sense. As far as my blind eyes could tell, it was in good shape but I'm really not an expert in that area...

I'm tackling the common leaks in the front of the engine, oil pump cover, crankshaft and distributor o-ring. I found the distributor is leaking internally at the shaft too. :frown:

I'm also resealing the valve cover half moons, replacing the egg VSV, basic tune up and trying to figure out what needs to be replaced for the power steering leaks. Good lord it is a mess in there, I should have cleaned the engine bay first.

Tore it down to replace the HG. Just wondering how many of you have had a failure @ #1, as opposed to #6? That's where mine blew. Got a box of parts from beno, with the cool beanie, too. Have to make a second order for all the other stuff!

More info on that dual battery setup and mounting over there on the passenger side please.

I'm running 2 Oddysey PC1200 in parallel.
I used some HD track and modified it into a tray. Used existing threaded holes and made some brackets to fasten it down.

I'm also running a National Luna dual battery controller/solenoid.

I can take more pictures if you'd like.

Yes pictures would be awesome when you're able. Thanks

You own a coat? WTF?
I lived on Oahu for a few years and was surprised by the number of parkas and knit caps I saw when the temps dropped to the mid 70's. But it's all perspective...

Well, have plenty of bikini pics....but somebody always get bent out of shape and reports me!
As for the coat, it was needed! 10,030 ft, 48 degrees and whipping winds at the top of Haleakala.
