What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (143 Viewers)

Not the weekend but a customer of mine that we built a deck for found out their 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia two months ago. She has been going through horrific bone marrow transplant and chemo. As a fellow cancer survivor I felt it was my duty to let her know how much of a bad ass she is for running the mile yesterday in 9:30.

So I loaded up the 93 with a bunch of balloons and flowers for her (she loves flowers and being outdoors). Oh and bamboo. Because bamboo is lucky.

Well, I didn't make the 1k page, I figured that was reserved for people like Joey, Landcrusier Phil, beno, Arcteryx, and other usual suspects.

But, I did get out on Sunday with the family to Halligan Res. up at Cherokee Park. Muddy trail, fun for little dude and the wifey.

Little dude had to stop and check out the grader, and the roller on the way home. If his vest didn't give it away, he's into construction equipment which is ironic since wife is a project manager for a construction company.

Ok, that looks great, and i had myself convinced i shouldn't try this myself. I've done my 70 Chevelle and my old 65 Mustang but figured it was too technical to make look great. How many job would you say it is?

Changed out tires this afternoon. Went from Cooper Discoverer STT to the Cooper Discoverer AT3. The STT was to aggressive for how little I drive the LC. They lasted over 8 years and felt it was time for a change after I noticed some cracking.

I re-did my seats late last year, makes me happy every time I hop in the truck!

Ok, that looks great, and i had myself convinced i shouldn't try this myself. I've done my 70 Chevelle and my old 65 Mustang but figured it was too technical to make look great. How many job would you say it is?

I'd rate it a job, with to help with patience. Not technically hard just moved slow, think I had 3 hours in the first seat and about 1.5 in the second. Had my dad help me, sometimes the extra pair of hands was nice, sometimes we got in each other's way.

Also heard of people getting out of upholstery shops for ~$300...

Well, I drove my 80 to @vipergrhd , and finally put a face on a mud handle. Then @Machinist and @Haring Bagsik came by as well. Food was good John... I didn't eat for two days because I was still full. Kudos to the Chef

I also got schooled on welding 101..

My very first ones... I know, I know, they looked liked chicken s***.

Got mine on some dirt after adding some boost to a freshly rebuilt head.
I needed an excuse so I organized my first Land Cruiser Club Trip, I called it "BajaCruisers"; left Friday night, came back on Monday noon; 2.5 days of great trails, friends and cruisers.

Heres the overall route, for the ones that know Baja, we started in the Laguna Salada dry lake, and made our way up the mountain ridge all the way to the Guadalupe Valley near Ensenada, no pavement.

Going up the Mountain Ridge at Saturday morning-ish, my freshly supercharged ride.

We tried that same route in January from Guadalupe Canyon but I got off the main track and ended up at some rancho in the middle of nowhere so we had to backtrack. We were solo and I didn't want to get TOO lost...
