What's all that white stuff in the Wits End and People on Sticks pictures? It's March and it's not a Cactus or Palm Tree so I'm confused.

Picked up belts for the new 80. While I was there they introduced me to their new showroom piece. It's a 72. 23k on the clock. Not a perfection restoration but it's really nice. Shame it's sitting in a showroom and not being driven.

They also took an 87 FJ60 on trade last night. Wanted me to see it before they make it public. It'd be a fun DD. I'm hoping either someone buys it or they realize it's overpriced and I pick it up in a couple months.

More work. Oil pump gasket, distributor gasket and main polea gasket. A very easy work. The bolts go out very easy.

Evening photo shoot with the 80 working its way into a few shots. Was a perfect evening and a really nice sunset at Kalaeloa.

Hope everyone had a Happy St. Patrick's day!

Jen, good timing on this comment...I'm looking at the Thule square bar setup. Thule's catalog for a 80-series gutter mount points to the High Foot Pack (387's). Are you running the shorter gutter feet (300's)? I don't like the higher feet and was hoping someone could confirm the standard feet fit A OK. Thx.
John
I have the standard Thule model 300 on mine for my kayak, but they will not work with the stock roof rack. Still plenty of roof clearance to allow for deflection of heavier loads. (My kayak is roughly 100 lb's). A reviewer on Backcountry.com has the Thule 369 on his 80 series sans stock roof rack with a roof top tent. I would switch out mine to the even lower set but no sense for me spending more money.

Thanks Jen & Grizz for the feedback. Like you, I don't have the factory roof rack so it looks like I have clearance with the standard height 300 from Thule. I'll be carrying my 16' Mad River canoe up there.

The Toyota dealership in El Cajon, CA has a 1970 FJ40 in amazing original condition sitting in their showroom with something like 3,833 original miles on it.

My 80 has gone there for parts a number of times!

Go with the one on backcountry in the link I listed. It is marked down pretty well, and another 80 has tested them to work fine. That is, unless you can find the 300 for cheaper.

We go in next week for a consult. Her cartilage is nearly gone as well.

I'm very sorry to here of your wife's misfortune. I have severe joint problems, RA, OA. I was told In 1999 by two Rheumatologists that I had 5 years and I would be In a wheelchair. I began to read and I learned the only thing that can replace cartilage Is Muscle. I have been exercising a lot with weights and machines since then, five days a week moderate heavy. If you can stand the pain exercise can heal the problem, I have done It and I am convinced It Is the safest and most dependable method to deal with joint problems, significant one's I mean. Try to find a dr. that Is sport minded and has patients that have and are healing themselves through exercise, It works and Its the most gratifying thing I have done. Please forgive my steadfastness, It seemed like the dr. only wanted to give me expensive Dangerous drugs and I have turned this around with Exercise and moderate pain meds. I know strong willed people can do the same. Give your Wife a hug and tell her there are people who can teach her how to make this right. I will be thinking positive for both of you. Again please forgive my exuberance .!!! Good Luck :)

HOLY s***! That is the most amazing thing I have ever heard. Truly remarkable.

The one at the dealership here is nice but it's "restored". The tub doesn't have the spot weld marks which drives me absolutely ape s*** bonkers. They've either bondo'd the tub or replaced the tub with an aluminum one. Ugh.
