The Tundra (4-runner) brake mod is working fine. No more grease dripping on my tires. I bled about 3/4 of a quart through them. The new front calipers bled easy. After the fluid started coming out the bleeders, I got a few small bubbles on each side.

But the rear.. well, starting with the driver's side, the first several rounds produced dark fluid. It gradually cleared up for several more rounds with just a few bubbles then a few rounds of foamy milky stuff purged out. The passenger side similar, but without the milky stuff.

Back to the front and only got a couple small bubbles out of one side. I drove it last week a few miles and the peddle feels a bit soft and if I pump it once improves. I guess I need to bleed them again.

I drained what was left in the front diff since I didn't when doing the knuckles and replaced with more than 3 quarts 90 weight. I'm glad this is behind me, it was messy.

Finally got around to mounting my new rear tyre carrier! To be honest quite a PITA on my own even with an engine crane to help. it was an awesome Facebook marketplace find and a hell of a lot cheaper than new.

That's one of the best looking 60's I've seen in a while.

Very nice! Is that a custom made window cover? looks beefy.

Did you drill holes through the floor to bolt it down? I need to do something similar but just in the rear cargo area so I can keep my bench seat up.
I used the existing factory holes where the rear cargo hooks are located.placed plywood in place, crawled underneath the rig and used a ink pen through the holes to mark the plywood . Purchased longer M6 bolts

BTW, my '86 FJ60 has those cargo tie-down holes, but without the welded nut underneath. Holes were covered with silver colored tape at the factory. But I don't know if all FJ60s had those holes.

My 87 is without them.

What size are the factory bolts?

Just stood there and admired it.

And let the hate for fedgov policies resulting in higher fuel price percolate down into my soul.

I'll have to look but I am pretty sure I don't have them either.
