I have a Sierra and am like so tempted to just take the vortec out and pop it in my 62...

What kind of noises and from where in the engine bay?
I have a post about it, need to do some trouble shooting still but is a squeaky squeak from from what sounds like the very very bottom of the trans, only when operating temps, like maybe 20+ minutes of driving (doesnt occur if I just let it sit for 30 minutes on). Continues for a few seconds after shutdown too. Its odd. Runs great, shifts fine, lockdowns fine, reverse clunk but who's doesn't. I shut it off in this video but it just keeps on squeakin'

I've been on every website I can think of trying to find an LS family motor. Can't decide what to get.I j
I just went with a cheap Gen3 LM7 with 4l60e. Super easy to swap in, got it all for 2,500 with 70K miles. I wanted a 6.2 from a denali but the cheaper motor freed up more money for the swap.

Has anyone kept the manual? I was thinking of going to the H55F 5 speed from my 4 speed. All of the swaps I've seen either go 4l60e or 4l80e.

I ditched a h55f for the 4l60e because it came with my motor, and that the 5th gear isnt deep enough on the h55f to be truly a useful overdrive. If you go manual youll really want to go with a nv4500 or something similar. I was thinking about going that route but not using the nv4500 saved me a few grand in just using the 4 spd auto that came with my motor. Plus my wife can drive my truck now. Unfortunately the h55f gearing was made for low power motors that physically could not push the 5th gear. There are a TON of h55f ls swaps out there though. The adapter is much more expensive to make it work. Idk just didnt seem worth it to me. At some point down the road id like to put in a 6l80e but i think the 4l60 will be fine for me for now

I'm not a LSX expert but another advantage of the newer gen motors and GM transmissions is matched ECU and TCU control enabling things like cruise control and TC lockup, which you wouldn't get on a manual swap I believe.

Excellent point. Im adding cruise control to my 60 and its only like 4 wires or so. Using all 1980s toyota cruise control switches too. You dont have to have gm cruise switches which is nice, just the brake switch and tac module if you are gen3 for the most part. Very oversimplifying it here but yeah

Fits perfectly, got the front to back worked out from the shifter tower placement, The Whole thing needs to roll clockwise from front .9 degrees to be perfect. The entire assembly measures 67.5 inches from the front of the fan to the back of the driveshaft flange. My measurements from the 2F/H42+splitcase was 65.5 inches

How is this going? I’m curious how you chose the nv4500 over an h55?

Got to take a trip down I-70 via 128. I hadn't been on an interstate highway since desmogging, Sniper, header. It's still not impressive, but the added pep is noticable. It held speed much better on grades even after switching to a true 33" tire from the actual 31.5" BFG 33x10.5's.
3200 rpm used to be 75 mph, now it's about 83. Engine temp never exceeded 203°
