What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

The idea behind the military wrap is that you can run the spring into an obstacle and it will just slide up the curved face instead of smashing into the end of the leaf and bending or breaking it.

Well that, but it's also a back up in case you break a main leaf. It should help to keep the axle in place longitudinally.

If there's a military wrap only on one end and main leaf breaks on the other end how is it going to keep things in place? :hmm:

Had to change out the battery so I decided to finally order a stainless tray to replace the fairly rusty original. This is one of those things I wanted to do years ago but never got around to. These things are super nice. My only complaint is that the included hardware is stainless 13mm hex head which doesn't mach anything else on the truck. (super nitpicky and not at all a big deal) If I ever feel like going the extra mile and changing them out, (unlikely), I'll try to track down the proper size and length Toyota flange bolts.

With a fresh battery installed, I figured I might as well take it into work on Saturday. I definitely won't be going on any long trips until the new engine is in it though since the clutch barely has anything left at this point. Still really nice to drive it again and it was cool to show it off to a younger coworker that was interested in it.

This was also the first time driving it since installing the 70 series mirrors, and they are awesome! Only downside that I noticed was that they block a lot of the cool air when the windows are rolled down... definitely worth it for the increased visibility though!

Good job Big D
Overland Metric has stainless JIS bolts

I'm thinking of hiking Mt. Huron via Lulu gulch tomorrow. Can you drive all the way up to point 12622?

Check this out:

It looks like the highest you can get is ~11,600, even with an FJ60.

Here's a link to a topo map:

BTW, my wife and I did the Northwest Slopes Route quite a few years ago.

I broke my ankle and had surgery to retrofit it with some hardware. Right shoulder is also screwed up so me and crutches are not doing well. There are two steps up from the attached garage to the house. My wife went home before the hospital released me to scope out a way to get me up those stairs without me busting something else

In the garage sat the FJ60. It carries a set of old school perforated aluminum planking sand ladders. She offloaded the sand ladders, scrounged up some 2x4 scraps and built a ramp up the stairs with the aluminum sand ladders.

Then she bought a wheel chair. Her improvised ramp and the wheel chair allowed me to get in the house without tearing the new ankle hardware loose.

That's my girl - using her head to improvise and do a human recovery with vehicle recovery gear.

I'm glad she did not use the winch and snatchblocks for this task.

Perfect 3 Day weekend for this swap. Bought the Premium Holley Sniper Kit from "Mosley Motors" Great Kit High Quality parts and Accessories.
I had the services of a good friend to help with the electrical bits. Electrical anything intimidates the hell out of me. So the intent was to get it done in a day.
We did, it was a good 11 hrs. of quality wrench time. I didn't document a damn thing just a pic of the after. I'll need to hook up a return spring and do a little pedal adjustment. Biggest difference right out of the gate is throttle response! for now it'll be drive and adjust, let the unit learn. 100% satisfied.
 ✌ .

Picked up an old dresser off craigslist with some neat old newspaper lining the drawers...I think it’s from ‘71.

Finished the bezel...I dig...!!!

Color match was not perfect, but pretty darn close... (Rust-Oleum 350373 Satin Charcoal Gray)
There is another Satin Charcoal Gray that I wanted, but was hard to find (342061)
I think that would have been a closer match

The knob on the vent/heat/deff was a perfect fit (55905-89110), and I kind of like it better than the OEM
