What did you do with your 60 this weekend? (4 Viewers)

Visited the body shop to get the latest pictures. I agreed to let them work on it when they were slow in return for a discount so this process will take 2 months or so.
They are skim coating so all panels are smooth and found some rust in the front windshield and around the gas cap (both reworked).

Finally decided to clean up that rust spot on the A pillar. It started to look ugly a couple years
ago and I just decided I’d had enough. Windshield was smashed bad last summer so I removed
it myself. I also found some other spots hidden around the window frame so this part of
rusteration cleanup is just the beginning before new paint.

I even did a patch on the lower front fender. My first experience with trying to blend
new over old. Ended with wet dry sanding 800 grit. This is my supply of odds and
ends of paint repair. I get aerosol mixed of my base coat as it’s semi metallic. Seems to
go on well and it’s good quality.
Last shot is windshield under straps. No way I’m going to try and reinstall it. It’s only
5 kilometres to the glass shop.

Passed emissions today. For some reason when I went to renew the plates online after, they gave me a 5 year renewal option, which according to the AZ DOT website, it doesn’t qualify for. Fingers crossed tho!

Yea i had that option too, but i think we dont get that since we have to do emmisions. Been waiting on an email from them about my registration..thanks for the reminder. Time to make a call

Poor mans Dynamat, 100 sq ft for $75. It's not as thick but I've used it before and it works pretty good. For the cost you could do 2 layers and still be way cheaper.

Also emptied my new catch can. After 2 weeks there's maybe a couple tablespoons of nastiness in there.

Corona still has us closed up here in upstate NY but that just means more work getting done on my recently acquired 60! Making progress to the 5.3 and 4L60E in there! (and eventually get rid of that awful yellow paint)

I've used this stuff before - totally recommend it. Lined nearly my entire Volvo wagon in it close to 8 years ago now...the only problem is now I notice all the interior squeaks!!

Took my 62 out with a friend's 80 on a drive.

Maybe a dumb question, but how does the temperature gauge work on the 62? Does it function like "newer" cars where it will be in the middle as long as the truck is in operating temperature, or does it reflect the actual temperature?

It reflects the actual temperature. Keep in mind, 60&62 gauges are 30+ years old and aren’t known for being super accurate. By my gauge, my 60 runs warm when it’s 110+ and I use the A/C, but not when I use an infrared temp gauge.

Thanks. Same here. Where do you take your infrared measurements?

Made a quick trip to Bankhead National Forest to kick off some fieldwork. Got it only minimal camping. Picked up a newish canoe along the way. The ticks were out in force so I used the lateral FJ60 hammock system to stay off the ground and avoid natural anchors.
