Two Buck
SILVER Star
I got my driver door window back on track. It's been rattling around worse and worse over the last few weeks, but last week it finally came totally off the track and would only go halfway down and 3/4 up so I had to lock it in the back yard where it was safe until I could work on it.
The first revelation of the day was how easy it is to get the retainer clip off the window crank handle using a rag instead of fishing around for it with a hook. I've had the panels off both front doors several times and always used the hook. I feel like an idiot for not trying a rag sooner.
Once I had the door panel off, I could see that the window wouldn't roll down all the way because it was hitting the speaker in the door. That lead to the second revelation of the day: that the Al & Ed's Autosound installer who put my speakers in years ago was a hack. I already knew he was a hack by the gouge he put in my dashboard putting the head unit in, but the way he installed the speaker confirmed it: he drilled holes in the door panel and used drywall screws. What a dickhead.
I pulled the speaker out far enough to get the window all the way down, then finagled and finessed the window up and down and back and forth until I got it back in the track and I was back in business.
Then I buttoned everything up and I'm calling it a win for the weekend.
