Finished my re-paint and vinyl wrap. Topped it off with new window tint. Glad this project is done. Now it's time to drive it and have some fun.

Thanks. I'm not really a camo guy either, but I didn't want to spend a ton of $$$ on painting it just to scratch it up so I thought a wrap would suffice for the time being. I hope it holds up for at least a couple years.Wow...that's...REALLY not my style, but you did an excellent job. Looks pretty awesome. The black around the rockers is a really nice touch. Great job. Good luck finding your truck on the trail!
No sweat! Text me at anytime.View attachment 1396682 View attachment 1396683 Another MUD member and I went to help my brother buy a pretty nice 40 this weekend. Turned out to be a good setup. Being a 60 guy, I did take some time to continue baselining my 15 year olds 60. He starts driving in 18 days so the clock is ticking. Still have to do the tie rod ends and reseal the steering box. Did order the seal kit. Looking forward to that job as it's one I've not done before.
I've got to adjust the valves (first time for myself) on my '76 FJ40's 2F. Was it pretty straightforward? BTW, what is the size of the head of the bolts - 12mm or ??? The bolts on my 3FE take a 12mm wrench/socket.Got parts.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll probably start with my '76 FJ40 and try it with the engine warm - not a lot to remove to get to the rockers quickly. Then my '71 FJ40 with the same engine, but with the even easier to get to rockers (it has the older style air cleaner that doesn't sit on top of the valve cover). Then my '84 FJ60, once I resolve the loud knocking issue. Last will be my '86 FJ60 with a 3FE - I may need to do that cold due to all of the stuff you have to remove. It was my first time and I would say it wasn't that bad. Had I not been sleep deprived and in a rush to get back to the super bowl, it would've been easier. Get a copy of the FSM and search 'valve adjustment' on the forum. I did my adjustment cold/not running and added .002" to the specs in the FSM. Tons of great info already out there.
Tools I used:
Take your time and and make sure you're adjusting the correct valves at the right time.
- 12 mm wrench
- Flat head screwdriver
- Feeler guages
- Spark plug socket (don't remember the size) - pulling the spark plugs makes turning the motor much easier.
- 19 mm wrench - not necessarily needed. I tightened the alternator/PS belt and cranked on the PS pulley to manually turn motor over.
- Work light to shine at window to help see TDC mark on flywheel.
