Doors have been topcoated with the respective hues. I'll have to post up a pick tomorrow to compare the two colors because the paint is still drying and the sun is setting. Got part of the roof tacked on and sanded/primed whatever the hell that thing is called that sits under the grill. Although the second coat of primer didn't adhere right for some reason. Anyone know why? The paint is rustoleum automotive primer and I cleaned the part with TSP and then a wipe down with xylene. The first coat went on just fine, then this...

What it looks like to me is you didn't put the second coat on soon enough, or you didn't wait until full cure. what happens is the furface of the layer will cure quickly, but it is still wet underneath, once you spray the second coat on it reacts with the underlying wet layer causing the surface to crack. The only way to get around the problem is by spraying within the time frame specified on the can, or wait until full cure then sand and spray.

Makes sense to me. The can said to wait 15-30 minutes between coats and I probably waited more than 30. So, as far as painting goes, is it better to put the next coat on sooner rather than later?

Yea, once the paint flashes you would want to put on the next coat, but if you don't wait long enough you will have high potential for runs. I always spray, then wait until the paint is tacky, then spray again, usually 3 to 4 coats. The time will vary due to humidity and temp, so there really isn't a good way to say in time. If you are concerned you waited too long and are afraid of having the same results, just wait until the paint has fully cured, check the paint can for estimated time, then sand and repaint.

Yep, I agree sail blue looks much better.

Tacked in some angle iron cross braces from pillar to pillar for the impending rotisserie lift-off. Should have the body off the frame in the next day or so. Then the fun begins!!!

pulled busted third out of pigtown. only bummer is the broken third is a fine spline pinion from a 62 and my spare is the coarse spline pinion from the 55 axles.

Got one rear and one front hub drilled to accept 7/16-20 socket bolts. The one rear was a giant PIA since all 6 studs sheared and wouldn't come out. Trying to get the drill to go right through the center of the sheared and smeared studs was no fun. The front went really fast because I could pull the studs and the drill went right in.
