Spontaneous Thursday afterwork camp trip.
Back Friday by noon.
Took the FJ55 out to fisher camp on antelope creek and spent the night with Sara and her two dogs.
It was good, didn't see another soul until we got back to paved road.
I took the Durley flat Heep on the way back and got Sara all excited (terified) because we drove through a washout. (Didn't even need to lock the hubs)
We made it back in time for chesters Vet appointment this afternoon.

I freaking love my old landcruiser.
Its got its problems but none of them stop me from enjoying it at a moments notice.View attachment 3994767View attachment 3994768View attachment 3994769
Good times.
Im at a place in life where id rather put gas in the landcruiser and go somewhere than spend money and time bolting more crap to it....
Sounds like a great outing...

I’d rather be in a place in life where I wasn’t sitting there comparing what I do to what other people do on this forum with every post I make.
Every Pig build is unique.

You are like a little snowflake Rush, you are different form all the other Pig builds...

Moments ago: superbrite LEDs in back...
Amber and red to match the Aussie taillight lenses, white for the back-ups. Made a socket cleaning tool, rinsed out the insides of all the lenses and used the special bulb grease.
It's attention to these details that promotes one to level II shadetree mechanic.
I have to wait until dark to see how they work

How did they work?
Do you still have incandescent turn signal bulbs up front?
Did they blinky frequency get really fast?

Those replacements (do we still call them bulbs?) Did not work, I had ordered the wrong ones. Those little bayonet mounts are wrong. So I got the right ones. 1157 is the part number you want. These work great. Even in bright sunshine you can tell they're on.
Back-up bulbs dropped right in and work nicely.
I've got older LEDs in the front, flashing pattern is different but not faster.
I really like being able to put the red and amber "bulbs" under the red and amber lenses. White bulbs seem to wipe out the colors.

Drove to petaluma for burning gas amp and caught a metal show while down there.
450mi round trip
I got to listen to some of my custom tube amplifiers through some Altec Lansing A7 speakers. Which are absolute legends and the stuff of audiophiles dreams.
They sounded unbelievably good and my amplifiers did a wonderful job with them.

^^^ Nelson pass was speaking in the other room so I took the liberty to crank the volume to ear bleed levels while nobody was there.
I cannot express how good Altec A7s sound.
