Today was a remarkable day… 70* low low humidity. It was my greatest intent to get this terrain tamer project underway at 9am. By 4:30 I hadn’t done anything more than get the 40 in place in the garage. I just don’t believe how motivated I am to put these on but got absolutely nothing done. Who does that?
I was given a dead ford tractor that I dont need or want.
A friend wanted it so yesterday I used the old sow to pull a heavy ass, dead ford tractor with flat tires out of a hole, up a hill and a quarter mile down the road to my friends house.
We did it.
Should have taken photos.
The fj55 had a mind of its own sliding and kicking to find traction. Heather screaming from the seat of the tractor "its moving keep at it"
I ended up driving clean over a massive brush pile and it kept grabbing traction and pulling forward until we hit hard compact road base and it was smooth sailing from there...
I should have made a video but we wanted to get that tractor before someone changed their mind.
Fj55 for the win, yet again, you'll grin when you grab traction, no spin...
No worries. Bonnie/Frankencruiser wore one of those for a few years prior to the rooftop tents. Have pictures somewhere. I just used preservative-coated pine slats. Ever get your gas tank/fuel issues resolved. Hesitate to ask about your Pig that's still up here.

Well Jim, kinda broken record with Mike but he says shooting for end of month. When I texted him this week he said he was cleaning up tailgate. Everything else was sanded and marked about ready for paint, that what he hasn’t painted already. Trying to stay optimistic. Told him I’ve got new job role Oct. 13th and it would be ideal to have it done before I start.
@riderjgs just posted another comment that o found old timers radiators shop who might be guy to get job done on gas tank. Fingers crossed.
Just pulled Bonnie out of shop, topping off PS fluid and we’re gonna give it a try to go to town.
Yesterday was get the third member swapped in the 71 pig, today I’m starting the suspension swap as the third member went to easy and was back on the road figure I have the new springs I put under my wife’s before I took them off and put on the lift springs so going to swap those out and then greasable shackles also. Getting rid of the add a leaf rear springs that have been far to stiff and over worked the last 20 years I’ve owned it. Time finally felt right to swap so with any luck that’s today’s goal then tomorrow the fronts as it’s had a bent front spring for well before I owned it.
Not sure but it’s been growling at me for about 8 months and I knew the third was going away so haven’t been driving far from home. The other day I had to go help a cruiser guy get an 80 going after work so was already part way there then decided well shoot almost to town just go fill the tank instead of cans but it wasn’t happy apparently and started getting real loud from the rear end.
Well had high hopes of getting rear finished but one side is done and life happens so the other side on the rear tomorrow then maybe next weekend I’ll tackle the front. Love my one post lift
