I've replaced pinion seals with no ill effects, too. Nothing should change when just replacing the seal, shims stay the same, etc. I guess if you have crush sleeve in there you could over tighten it and crush it some more.

Is it normal for oil on a 3rd to seep past the splines like on the t-case? If so, I’ve never noticed![]()
How redneck would it be to just “re-seal” the driveshaft to that flange (maybe a bit of ultra black) and call it good, my dad kinda thought I had enough going on to worry about something that wasn’t leaking before I opened it....IMHO, in the picture OL Yeller posted it looks to me like it's leaking at the yoke splines more than a seal.
Right, I’m moving to my front 62 housing so will ensure it’s vented.BUt... if it leaks past those splines and nothing else is off, verify the vent is clear...
