Garage is insulated and the door is as well :)

Replaced the driver's side door lock actuator on the 100. Now all the door locks are working correctly.

How long did it take? My 2000 the driver's lock won't work once it heated up outside. Than it would draw enough power the other locks won't work. Never got around to replacing it before trading it in. I do have the new OEM lock and looks like quite a project with all the rods connected to it.

You certainly aren't saying this is a issue on the 100 series are you?:hmm: I have a bunch of the small motors that are suppose to fit this. My 99 4Runner as acted up once in the heat. Figure the easiest fix is to not go outside during the day in the summer.

Yes, If you consider some going bad after 10 year an issue. The warmer it get the more problems you will have. It would be easier without sweat running in your eyes.

My 100 series was five years old when I bought it and spend most of it's time in a garage where I didn't lock it. My 89 FJ62's power locks while over ten years older still work fine. I purchase some of the replacement motors someone local was selling a few years back. Those are tiny compared to the FJ62. Sticker price on the FJ62 was in the mid twenties while the 2000 was over sixty. Purchased the replacement 100 series lock from CDan before Murf had his thread on CBT discount. When I asked Dan why the power lock cost so much he justified it by the cost of the vehicle new. While it is a better over all vehicle they cheapen some of the parts. Over the years I've picked up about ever non engine electrical component for my FJ62 yet have never needed any of them including the power antenna. Never owned a 80 series yet so can't give a opinion other then what I've read but the 60 series was the end of a era. The 62 was the first step into the next era but over all still part of the last one.

The reason I never replaced mine is I always forgot about it while it was cool outside. Once it got hot I was always going to do it up north. But figured I would have messed something up and be driving by to the valley with the door torn apart needing some part I managed break taking it apart and still end up dong the work in the oven.

I have done all 5 100 series locks in the past it not bad just take you time on the plastic clips that hold the linkage.

It took probably an hour and a half. I would guess after each door, they will get a little quicker. I replaced the entire actuator assembly, not just the motor. I was not sure which motor my 100 has. I now need to take apart the old actuator and see which motor I have. Then I will order 4 motors.

Phil is correct, the hardest part is getting the plastic clip out of the linkage. I cracked mine, but put it all back together. I think I read on MUD somewhere that you can order just the clip, but I think you have to search Celica parts.

Not only did I take off the inner door panel, I also had to loosen the outside door handle. That helped remove the plastic clip from the linkage.

I am hoping that I only HAVE to do the drivers side for now. It seems to have worked, but only time will tell.

Mine had the same symptoms, in the heat none of the locks would unlock. At times, I had to crawl over the back seat to manually unlock the tailgate.

Good luck.

Radiator flush, greased the zerks on the driveline, bled brakes on the 100.
80 got all new bushings on the sway bar.

I believe the whole assembly is the only way Toyota sells it. A mudder had found a replacement motor and was selling them. These were cheap as I remember around $5 a motor. I probably have envelope with six of them as well as the full piece from Toyota in my stash of 100 series parts.

Can't afford Snap-on; and besides, if I came home with a snap-on hammer I'd never use it. You are not a real TEQ head if you allow Phillips screwdrivers to touch your JIS heads.

The JIS Phillips is excellent on Japan screws but suck on US Philip Screws.

I look forward to your report on the difference in the the TEQ and US hammer

sorry, couldn't resist :flamingo:
