It spent most of its life in Flag. That red volcanic mud was like concrete.
Bought my first 40 when I live in Flag and 90% of time I used after moving to the valley was around Flag. Would spend hours washing the mud off after the fall hunts. My front yard alway had four low spots where the tires sunk in from rinsing the red clay from the under side. Paid off as she is still rust free.
Pictures or it didnt happen![]()

Was it parked on the corner of Beaver and Forest near the hospital? If so, I saw it every day from my window at work for the past 2+ years. I also saw it leaving on a trailer a while back. Glad it is went to a good home!It spent most of its life in Flag.
Well I've learned alot about FJ40s in the last few weeks. I found out Late F motors distributors are about a 13mm shorter than the earlier model. Almost killed my motor (thought i did). Before I fired the motor I fabbed up a pump priming tool for my drill. Gave it a spin while I cranked the motor over. got oil the the rockers. Great! Dropped the dizzy in slapped the valve cover on and fired it up. Was running great! Made it a 1/4 mile from the house and the motor lays down and locks up. Yikes. With the ignition still on I tapped the oil pressure idiot light and it turned on. my hart sunk. Towed it home and parked it. Still in disbelief today I cranked it and it fired right up. Pulled the pan and saw that the pump and dizzy weren't engaged. Pulled rod caps and main caps and to my disbelief everything looked great. Grabbed the ****ty Delco distributor Dropped it in and its running like a champ. I'm one lucky SOB. The Toyota gods were looking down on me today.

Had the same thing happen to me kind of back in the early nineties. Bought a used distributor from SOR. Popped it in and timed it. Got in to take it for a test drive and didn't even get a block before I noticed my oil gauge had no pressure. Pulled it out and sure enough it was shorter then my stock distributor. Took some convincing but they took it back. This was before it would be real easy to take a picture and Email it. This was also before the sickness really set in. I no longer order parts I search thru my personal junk yard.![]()
I've built quite the junkyard in the last 2 weeks!
