Well I've learned alot about FJ40s in the last few weeks. I found out Late F motors distributors are about a 13mm shorter than the earlier model. Almost killed my motor (thought i did). Before I fired the motor I fabbed up a pump priming tool for my drill. Gave it a spin while I cranked the motor over. got oil the the rockers. Great! Dropped the dizzy in slapped the valve cover on and fired it up. Was running great! Made it a 1/4 mile from the house and the motor lays down and locks up. Yikes. With the ignition still on I tapped the oil pressure idiot light and it turned on. my hart sunk. Towed it home and parked it. Still in disbelief today I cranked it and it fired right up. Pulled the pan and saw that the pump and dizzy weren't engaged. Pulled rod caps and main caps and to my disbelief everything looked great. Grabbed the ****ty Delco distributor Dropped it in and its running like a champ. I'm one lucky SOB. The Toyota gods were looking down on me today.

closely related to a tractor

oh, and it was valve cover gasket day for the LX

and it still tried to be a drama queen at the end

and I got to drive the 40 around the block :steer: :bounce:

Did a little bit of "gentleman farming" with my LX luxury tractor...
Used the winch to right the fort I am building for my boys - built it on its side so I could get everything lined up - then used the winch to pull it over. Also used some more of my recovery gear to brace the fort and stop it from falling over on to the hundy!

Also changed steering rack bushings - not so bad, and light bulbs for CDL and quarter panel vent. Put a screw in the hood bump stops to stop them from rotating down.

Added a black pinstripe.
Read - painted the molding black. Did the passenger side only tonight, figured if I hated it, i wouldn't see it all the time.

New front brake pads and shot some grease through the square top plug.

Camelback swapped out the water pump, replaced belts, and flushed the brake fluid. In the process of doing that, they discovered that one of my rear brakes was completely locked up and a rear axle seal was leaking. They fixed everything up good as new.

Another great service by Camelback Toyota!

Thanks, Murf!

I've been enjoying my little FJ40. I take it for a spin and find things than need tweeking. Spend a couple hours in the garage then repeat. I need to play the lottery. theres so much i want to do to it. Little by little i'll get it dialed in.

Painted the driver's side moldings this morning.

My wife comes out and says "Now you need some really cool bumpers to match!"
Man, how I love her. Maybe a Father's Day present?
