I was checking some things out on my 79 FJ40 for my future five speed conversion. What I found was this.

For those that haven't been around cruisers from seventies the part of the transfer linkage that shifts into 4WD is for the 4/75-7/80 four speed. The back section that shifts between high and low range is the earlier style. I have never come across this mix match before. Because the lever that comes thru the floor is later and correct for a 79 I figure it was matching setup. Five speed will be a 10/82+ split transfer case which is uses different linkage. Problem I change the clutch on my 68 with a four speed I planned on using the later setup. Linkage isn't a issue but the shift lever on the transfer is. Was planning on switching the top plate off of this transfer case.:frown:

What is the scoop on the late model LHD 45 in the back ground? Is the red one in front it a 45 also or a 40?

Red one is 45Lv
Tan one is 84 Saudi spec lad 12ht 5sp w/correct top plate w/AC ps and factory rear sliding window.

White troopy is either 79/80 HJ45 or a 81+ HJ47. I seen a 86 LHD troopy for sale in Costa Rica. Was told it was a former Red Cross troopy. It been speculated that some specialty LWB 4X series were made into 86 to fulfill contracts.

Pickup is either 66 or 67. Appears to be a either a BJ75 or FJ75G next to thetFJ45 since you said some stink probably a BJ75. Guessing mid to late eighties. Soft top troopy under the cover is a 79+ FJ45. On the troopies if original real easy to date within a years with a quick inspection and that's not looking at any data plate.

I have heard HJ47 were only Australia RHD with a 2H

On the wrenching note, the daughter is in Flagstaff with her boyfriend and left me the '99 to re-seal the upper end.

Should have caught the single side window in on the FJ43. Gave up on my computer eating up all my data and only use my phone up north, missed the single window. Of everything shown the mid wheel base would interest me the most.

I show the HZJ75 produced 8/92-8/99) meaning it was either grey market import or newly imported. But my link is in a foreign language and if the HZ was a available earlier I don't show it.
