Builds What did you do to your Land Cruiser/Toyota/Lexus 4X4 this week?

So this happened.

As a result of this

the drivers side inner CV ate itself.

ALL the pertinent geometry: I have 1" diff drop. 4" suspension lift. Tundra conversion that extends track width 1 1/2" per side.
35K miles since lift.
It was an aftermarket boot. The original was torn in shipping. I tend to keep an eye on that one as it was thinner material than OEM, so I'm pretty sure it didn't fail and cause the grease to come out and cause the metallic catastrophe.
Also, there wasn't much grease in the wheel well or suspension components. I think it cooked in the boot. There is a solid layer of Coke built up in the cup.

I told the tow truck driver what a rarity it must be to have a cruiser on a flat bed. He said he never towed on before, but has a 97 he'd like to sell......

Removed the running boards on the 2001.

Nothing but shin bangers IMO. Future mods in mind are some suspension goodies from Kurt, sliders from shrockworks, and bumpers.

@TexAZ

Looked Great when the Mrs and I ran into on Hayden. Sharp 200 you've got there for sure!
Thanks,
Was awesome to randomly run onto another 200. The silver bullet looks great.
Are you planning on going to Breck with the 200s?

@TexAZ, thanks, we enjoy it quite a bit!

Negative on Breck. Family obligations keeping us busy. Maybe Ouray in October / November

Just got back form bumping around for a week up north on the eastern rez, where we ran into @wtmtnterror, as we were coming out of a wonderful breakfast joint.

@wtmtnterror has a hell of a nice 200 also!

Nice to know, CSC is covered where ever we all go. Travel with confidence in Az everyone!

In the last week, @medtro and @Saddletramp both helped me install all new rotors and pads, new Bilstein front shocks, grease spindle bearings, and replace the sway bar links and bushings (one link was broken in half).

On Friday, I spent the day installing a 100w solar panel before our trip to Utah. Just a temporary install until I get my new roof rack.

Stopped in Jacob Lake on our way north. Tested out the new LED system on our ARB awning room. Also stopped in Parowan, UT at a park for a picnic lunch break.

No, I didn't tune it. What temperature did you tune yours to? Did you use hot water or heat gun for tuning?

How much fluid did you put in? What is your summer coolant temperature?

Tuned it to 95*, tried the oven method but it cools so fast so I stuck it on the garage workbench at 10:30 one night when it was 95*. :cool:

I put in 45ml (using a syringe) of 15K Losi fluid.

Scangauge reports 185-193, about 10* lower than pre-mod. :D

Excellent job on 10* improvement. I like 185-193F. I will need to borrow your garage if I need to tune it down the road :rolleyes:.

Decided to take a work trip north a bit more leisurely and camp on the Mogollon Rim on the way up. Was a bit disheartened at how crowded every area was, but who wouldn't want to be up there rather than sitting in 115°F? Decided to follow a trail past all the other campers as it turned into a path that would make most turn back. Lucked out and discovered a secret spot right on the rim, didn't see or hear another soul from then on. Best. Work. Trip. Ever.

Looked to be occasionally used due to fire ring remnants, but I'd guess the spot is usually unoccupied. Decent space, might be a good place for 7-10 trucks if a group ever wanted to do a quick overnighter with a nice view.

@Abigail looks like an excellent spot! Maybe we can get some more Landcruisers up there!!

Just got back from vaca. Route home included the Million Dollar Highway. Just amazing, that whole area. Tough driving past turnoffs to Ophir and others but had to get home. Still loved it and plan on going back for some trail time soon. I'll be adding full details in the build thread in the next few days.

We are a little a little on edge at times since the fuel pump went out on our way home last year but no issues this time. Performed beautifully.

Total mileage round trip...

As usual pictures don't paint the picture well enough, especially cell phone ones.

Wife and I just did the million dollar highway in June. Hard to capture in pictures for sure.
