Fixed the issue I created in this post. I intended to remove the controls to get them to a gentleman who rebuilds them. In disassembling the dash, I found a white plastic retainer clip. Once the dash was stripped down, I started trying to remove the plastic clips that hold the cables to the controls.I fixed the lack of illumination for the HVAC controls and the lower switch panels ....
I broke the freaking temperature slider on the HVAC controls after reinstalling while testing function (it don't now )![]()
Allow me to interpret the above post ......Fixed the issue I created in this post. I intended to remove the controls to get them to a gentleman who rebuilds them. In disassembling the dash, I found a white plastic retainer clip. Once the dash was stripped down, I started trying to remove the plastic clips that hold the cables to the controls.
4 hours later, I conceded defeat. But I determined that the retainer I found would go back into position to retain the temp lever. After lubing cable with dry graphite spray, I reassembled everything and all is good.
No hammers or dynamite was used in the production of this effect and no Cruisers were permanently harmed, though the engineers who designed the controls and their mounting were called many unprintable names![]()
