As a Southerner, you should try wood shims and duct tape first before you spend money on fancy metal do-dads. :)

Sorry, I do not think that the OEM JDM wood shims are available here in the states. The duct tape cross references to another live part #.

OEM wood shims can be fashioned from the wood support frames inside master-pack C-cartons shipped from Japan. Those are difficult to come by however.

It is also possible to salvage the correct spiral-shaped nails from the same cartons to hold them together correctly.

Had the original failed or is this just your need to buy new parts?

Some of both. The old one was separating from the metal, so time to replace.

The speedo gear conversion will happen tonight as well as new oring, and a couple of new seals to seal up the rear of the xfer.

I have a periodic shift lever rattle. I'll slide under there and take a look at mine....:hmm:

Mine is probably iffy then. Many more Klicks on mine than yours and it has seen a lot more heavy use.

Correct sir.
You guys are overthinking this...... Sherman Williams paint sticks make excellent wood shims.

Sherman Williams ?

Are we painting WWII tanks?

Nope, it a new paint company formed by a merger of "The Jeffersons" and Williams paint. :rimshot:

I got some acid based cleaner per a recommendation on another thread and went to town on one of the wheels while also installing a set of spacers.

Cleaner works great! Gave the wheel a quick coat of wax and it'll be the prettiest of the bunch.

Drawer progress?

No drawer progress. The guys have been working OT at the cabinet shop on Saturdays so hard for me to get in. Also, in my typical fashion I turned what should be a quick an easy job of installing spacers into an all day affair - remove wheels, drive to store to find acid-based wheel cleaner, decide I need to sand and touch up paint the rear hubs, then proceed to thoroughly clean, polish and wax all 5 wheels.

Got the spacers on, much happier with the stance now, the added width will hopefully make things a good bit more stable on the trails.

I am a bit nervous about running the spacers after hearing various horror stories. I used some red locktite and torqued everything to 95ft-lbs. I was planning to take the wheels off again in 50-100 miles and re-torque the spacers. Anything else I should be worried about with the spacers? Thanks!

Don't use the anti seize on either set of lugs ;)

Why would I not put anti seize on the spacer studs that the wheel lugs attach to??

After a couple weekends, I finally got the ARB dual compressor to fit under the hood. Had to build a new battery tray so it could be moved over a couple of inches, then built a plate to bolt the compressor to which would also bolt to four factory holes. Another plate for manifold to bold onto, then put it all together and installed.

In addition to air for the lockers, the tires can now be filled up quickly :)
