If you mean how did I remove and install them, I first compressed the suspension then strapped the shocks with bailing wire to keep them compressed while removing and istalling the springs. If you mean did I use 2” lift compatible shocks, yes I did but dont know the brand. I put them on a couple years age and they are not labeled.

I meant the first: how did you deal with the front springs during uninstalling/reinstalling shocks. The reason I am asking is because in the past, I always had access to a shop lift for jobs like these, but not this time. I have already installed new monotube, vehicle specific shocks in the back. Beautiful things from the Italian HM4x4, and now I need to do the same for the front and did not have anything that could get me a full droop on the front axle due to the high stance of the vehicle.

In the past when I couldn’t put the vehicle on a lift I’ve rented a set of spring compressors from a local auto parts store. It’s not ideal, but you can get enough compression on the springs that way to get them out with the shock absorber.

Thanks @AirheadNut, I do have a set of heavy duty spring compressors but they are the internal type, safer maybe but with the beefy shock in the middle of the spring I stand no chance at threading the compressor in with it. I guess I'll go rent an external one of shi**y advanced auto, and maybe grab a roll of 16 gauge bailing wire and wrap the hell out of the spring.

Grabbed one of these from a local Toyota dealership. At first the dealer quoted me something stupid like $700, so out of desperation I asked if they would match prices online and he said yes, so I quickly googled the part number and found a shady listing for $345 somewhere and that was good enough for the guy behind the counter. The damn thing was in stock!

…I rented a spring compressor from the local auto parts store (mine was O’Reillys but AutoZone also have them). Maybe $45 for the 1/2 day, best spend since sliced bread…

I didnt need to compress the the springs to remove them or install the new ones. I jacked up and put jack stands under the front frame rails. I disconnected the shocks, sway bar and track bar and lowered the axle to the floor. The springs and shocks basically just fell out.

I see. I am trying to work around that. I don't have Jack stands that can reach the front rails with the truck sitting on its wheels let alone jacked. The little voice in my head is talking about cinder blocks and other nonsense, I am saying no to that.

I put the jack stands under the front cross member just behind the control arms.

Yesterday, replaced both fuel filters on the HZJ78.

Today, replaced oil & filter on the HZJ76.

Then started chasing the white smoke devils again… ended the day with all injectors removed. Tomorrow new ones will be installed. Fingers crossed.

Assuming you have OEM sub tanks? ^^^ Does the issue occur on main and sub tank? Or only one? IF it only happens on one or the other, you may have an issue with the in tank pick up? Or hose from tank to change over solenoid valves

No one could explain why they had the glass.
Salesguy carried the glass for me so he could see the 74.
Some mechanics came out to watch me drive past.

I love the tire size/stance of your truck. Looks like you did go with 35's (?). Did you stay with 16" rims or go 17"?
I am thinking about squeezing a set of 315's on stock steel 5 lug 79 series wheels to see how I like it.

Finished the cluster and the fuel/4wd/low/reverse/CDL for the 80 series drivetrain that is mounted and the instrument cluster. I may use some of the lights/leds in the cluster for warnings.

With the 80 series electric speedometer I can hook the 80 series cruise control. And… a troopy with mph.

Anyone know the location of the blinker/indicator flasher relay on fzj75?

I’m having some issues on the LHD rear blinker and taillight and license plate lights, grounds are good but getting no +12v. I checked w a power probe.

Image below is of the tail light terminal, touching one of the ground terminals, two right most and bottom next to right most have good grounds. And upon activation of the lights and brake lights the two left should show +12v.

Also upon turning on the marker lights or headlights, the left blinker arrow stays ON solid. Something real screwy going on.

got the DIY shade tree intercooler setup on the KZJ. Stole epaul's design and turned out pretty good. I also used an inexpensive bead roller on all the cut pipes to make sure they didnt pop off.

I guess you could call this a ''first draft'' as there are a few things I'd to clean up. Been daily driving it the last week and works great. no rattling or issues. Could be placebo but I feel like it has a bit more pep now.

Couple things I'd like to change:
-not a huge fan of the coupler clamps resting on the valve cover. Might intall a shock pad on the valve cover to help limit abrasion.
-piping in left fender wheel clears the wheel full lock but need to keep an eye on it when If im at full stuff/full lock (which would be rare)
-brackets holding intercooler in place are simply chopped L-brackets from home depot. Need to fab up a much cleaner bracket setup so i can clean better at night.
