Coming along.... need to install retainers tomorrow and then the shim-over-buckets.

Then cam bearing up front and then adjust valves with the new camshaft and new bearing caps.

Put new injectors in the 3b today. Wow what a difference! Far less smoke and what smoke there is is darker. Much less smoke at cold startup. Engine run smoother with increased power and lower egts. Going on a small road trip this weekend I'm expecting better fuel economy.
I first checked into getting the old injectors tested and rebuilt locally, but the cost was more than a set of new ones.. and yes like so many other parts for these old Toyota diesels they're made in China now.

I fixed the connection for the windshield washer reservoir (Hzj73). The male side on the motor to the female side of tube separated when the weather froze up last month. This probably happened because I made the mistake by *temporarily* adding water and didn’t refill with windshield washer fluid. When I took it apart I was expecting a crack in the tub because, upon refill, it immediately spilled out but was glad to see the hose wasn’t connected. I softened the tube with a heat gun and pressed it back on to the motor. No leaks yet!

quite a few hours at Hwy speed now and over 1 hour at 68-72mph. EGT's around 560C at 70mph, 11psi boost and no high engine temp. Fuel economy better than before.

Got all new door weatherstrips all around for the removable top 73 doors. These ones separate in half like the doors, and have two PN for each door. Here’s all the PN for those interested. Found em all on Megazip, took about two weeks for them to secure them.

Funny you should mention, because it was a post on your shade tree thread where I realized they were still available. Had trouble finding them before that. I think you were looking for the full-door option, and could only find the half-doors. Full circle.

Pretty sure it was the other way around, I could find the whole ones, but not the halves. Most of those part numbers are unavailable on Partsouq or Amayama. First time for me ordering on Megazip, so will see if they can find another set.

What kind of camera?
Nikon D5600 with a 70-300mm lens, not my go-to but I got it for free after my Pentax K-70 got run over on our trip to buy the FJ40 , still a great camera nonetheless.

That should buff out with a little bit of patience. 😊

Took the Dingo out to stretch its legs and to see if it got any quieter after 100lbs of mass loaded vinyl. Survey says... yes! It drives like a new(ish) car now. I've got "pro" 3/8" MLV from the firewall, back to the rear barn doors, the stud walls filled with wool insulation and a sheet of 1/2" birch ply + 1/4" felt + vinyl mat in the back.

Plus it ain't that bad lookin' either!
