We are in the process of restoring a 81 BJ41 and I cant seem to find any refrences to the late model color code for the factory hard top cap white. I found a couple of earily refrence to a T302 that aparently doesnt exist any more. There is also a Cygnus white which was a body color but I dont think it was used for the caps of the 40 series hard tops.

Thanks for any help.

Michael

It is the same on top. Cygnus White...

This site shows Cygnus White as "012".

The truck is a 1982 so it should be the 033 "white" correct?

I think it was Cygnus white for all years. A good bet would be to pm Landpimp - he is a resident LandCruiser trivia guru. Honestly, if you go with the Cygnus and it's wrong for that year, there are probably only a few folks in the world who would know.

EDIT: I see you have been a member for 4 years - I'm sure you know who LP is. Sorry, if my tone sounded condescending.

Top Color

I am using Cygnus White right now to paint my cruiser. It has a lot of yellow in it. I believe the top color is 033 white. At least thats what Im repainting my top as.

My 83 BJ42 is 033 white and the top looks identical to the body? Why I have you, what is the correct color of toyota engine? Black or grey?

I think the very eairly F motors may have been Grey but I have never seen a late model engine that was any color other than black (except the "Big Gay 2F"). I repaint all my rebuilds matte black.

Some like the grey on the engine to spot any oil problems

Maybe they aren't all consistent?

I have two tops, a '75 mustard yellow and a '77 smurf blue both still have the weathered gel coat or whatever finish and the '77 is a more brilliant hue and the 75 is more yeller'. The top on my 67 is real close to the white body.. FWIW... I wonder if there are some variations over the years. After all, who would pay attention to that stuff?

i don't mean to hijack but i am also getting my 79 fj40 repainted and am trying to find the color white that is correct. the white that is on it has no yellow to it but i think it might of been repainted with a rattle can. any help would greatly be appreciated!
