Secret Agent, are those Man-A-Fre 4+ sliders on your 40? Or custom fab? Whatever, they look great.

No I haven't. More than likely I will go gray but can't decide whether to paint or powder coat. If I paint then I would need to scuff all 5 wheels, wash and paint. Sounds like a real Pain in the ***.

the rims on that 55 are really cool..

m not sure why, but im still partial to grey

I could learn to like gray......:)

Grey sounds good. As for PC vs spray, I'm leaning towards spray. Three reasons are first the cost, secondly if chipped spray is easier to fix. Lastly if you decide grey is not for you, you're not out alot of money. Just elbow grease and a few cans. I got a quote to sand blast 5 rims for $40. Not bad at all.

Grey? What grey? I don't see any grey in that pic.. See some tan maybe ... :grinpimp:

Go gray, my local pc guy said 60.00 for 5 wheels to sandblast and 55.00 a wheel to powdercoat. Thats 335.00 for a set. I might try spraying and clear coating mine first and see how it turns out. Scott

I got quoted $215 to sandblast and powder coat 5 wheels from a reputable company here in Idaho. I would shop around a bit.

I got quoted about $200 for four wheels for powder coat. That's including the blasting so I would look around as well.. I figure I'm going to need to get them blasted anyways.

WOW! No on in my area will do it cheaper than $300

Have you checked with the guy in Summerville (cant think of the name but he is over by Flowertown restaurant on the road that connect back by Home Depot). He has done some powdercoating on another project and was reasonable.

If you plan on wheeling just spray paint them. Scuff the paint a little and hit them with a few coats. Maybe 15 mins of time and $10 max.

What should I scuff them with? How many coats?

If you are buying new ones just hit them with a green brillo pad or some 180 grit sand paper. 2 or 3 coats and you should be good. There are lots of colors close to the OEM wheels. I used Ace Rust Stop me gray.

Did you apply a clear coat? Where did you get that? Hardware store?

No clearcoat but you could. I bought it at Ace Hardware on Coleman. I posted a link to my buildup in your other thread on suspension so you can see the color there or I will be at the Christmas parade on Sunday in the 40.

I think the key here is prep work. If you want them to look really good do it right. If you can find a similar deal to blast 5 wheels for $40 jump on that and save yourself the headache of prep work. I used 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of finish with no clear coat. Not super chip resistant like powder coating but very easy to touch up.

If you have lots of cash I'd say powder coat. But for every dollar I spend on stuff like that I think of what else I could do with the cruiser....

Good luck.

I think i paid 200 for 4 blasted and PCd......
