Yep, a long weekend it was though Gary. My son was a huge help and is turning into a formidable wrencher. He really loves this kind of stuff, and it's great to be able to spend time with him working on the rig. However, the best part was there was no real problems, unless you count my split lip from dropping the front third in my own face, and the stupid chrome hub trim outer sleeves being rusted fast to the hubs. We wound up destroying them in the removal process...oh well.

Thanks again for your assistance in parts procurement for this project too, it is much appreciated!

Drove the 40 to work for the first time this year after upgrading my Alt, stripping off the air compressor and replacing belts. :bounce:

I replaced the fluid in my fan clutch with 10k CST. At first I just put in as much as I removed, and it locked up on start up but no improvement after it got hot, so then I added the full 59 mL. Seems to be much improved. Temps only reached 202 degrees, and that was after a sustained period of high-load. We'll see in the long run, but so far so good :hmm:.

Replaced a leaking steering box with a freshly rebuilt one, then mounted up a set of old school steelies and hubcaps with BFG 33" KM2 skinnies. Gotta send a shout out to our local cruiser parts depot @shmukster :lol: for helping me with the hardware procurement for both upgrades. Thanks Gary...and here's the new look.

Thanks guys. Very happy with the looks of these. I am completely sold that these trucks should have come from Mr. T with this set up. It definitely compliments the personality of the vehicle!:cool:

What size tires were you running before? Same?

Looks great! Did you get the front parking lamp fixed from that little boo-boo last trip?

Yep, same size tire 33X10.5X15. The KM2's are about a full inch taller than the AT's were. Even though the AT's were at about 50% tread depth, I gotta believe the KM2's would still be taller when both are new.

Thanks for reminding me of the boo-boo Ben! Contrary to my statements....the wrinkles did not just buff out!:rolleyes: Put a new lens in there and called it good until I can pull the fender and have it straightened proper.

Thanks Gary. It's been fun, frustrating and everything in between. I get a real thrill when finishing even small projects on it. Learning a lot which was part of why I wanted to get a 40.

I was distracted by the new Tundra this weekend and didn't touch Rambling Wrek. Felt guilty. I still have big plans for changes I'd like to make to it. I need to start a thread on it but no time.

For what it's worth, there's a running joke at work that I don't actually OWN a FJ40 at all, since nobody has ever seen it. I work 40 miles from my house so it's a long hike for the Clustertruck (and 1/2 tank of gas, round trip).

This truck is gorgeous. You don't happen to find yourself in norther DE often, do you? I saw a very similar truck to this one (albeit with stock wheels) coming home from work the other day. Was going to honk and wave but realized I was in the Mazda, not the 40, and would probably just look like a lunatic!

@RWBeringer4x4,

Thanks for the kind words. I haven't been to DE in this rig recently. Although, it too had stock wheels on it until last weekend.

Don't worry about the honking and waving thing, I catch myself doing it all the time in the wife's Rav4!:lol::lol::lol: I feel like a total dork afterwards!

I finished up @Crusha cargo system build and it is ready for delivery tomorrow. Took photographic evidence of it, as it will never be this clean nor this well organized ever again!!!

McMaster shorted me one of the recessed drawer pulls but other than that it's all done!

OUTSTANDING work Ben! I can't wait to see this tomorrow. Very professional looking!
