You notice the bullets. I saw the pad lock and have questions about it now. Vintage anti theft system?

I've been slowly learning the ins and outs of CNC. Here is a nameplate that I created in Fusion360, milled on a Tormach 1100M vertical CNC mill, painted, and then polished. It turned out pretty much exactly how I wanted it to. It's about 1.5" x 7.5" for reference. It's pretty amazing to be able to draw something up and then hold the finished aluminum piece in your hand!

Last time I stopped at Ryan's shop in VA (OTRAMM) he was machining a housing for double seals. He had made a fixture to which he bolted the housing and installed in his three jaw chuck the housing was automatically centered for easy accurate boring. Cool!!!!!

So I’ve never (knock on wood) had the drum brake seal on my setup leak with a single seal so far. With a potential Orion build coming up - What are your thoughts on doing the double seal mod if there’s no leak with a single seal? Naturally it’s insurance but I’ve also heard the lack of lubrication at the outer seal accelerates it’s demise and starts grooving the drum brake spoke it rides on faster.

I have no experience either way just curious if you’ve heard the same and what your take is on it.
 
if the single isnt leaking, i wouldn't mess with it.
the double isnt really a double seal, even though it has two seals in it, it just gives you a new single seal further in, on a virgin portion of the drum.
 
Decided to do a little beauty update to the Lexus. (Bottom 1/4 of the car)

The paint job on it is junk. The car use to be a beautiful emerald green, and after the accident it was in the previous owner had it painted white but must have got a friends special since none of the old paint was prepped correctly and it is starting to chip up everywhere. I think its a nice little touch, almost gives the car the older fairlady style (that is a stretch in description I know)

Finally had the new tires mounted to the wheels:

I'll get some better pictures later. but the car sits about 2 inches higher than before. The car had 225/45R17 which is about an inch shorter than factory, and now has 225/55R17 that is an inch higher than stock. I feel it has a really nice stance now (but I like all things lifted...) and is so much easier to get in and out of now. And the vibration I had 60 on up is gone! It is not as smooth as glass but it is so much more better and I actually enjoy driving the car even more now.

This will probably be my new daily to save putting mileage on the Tundra, everything in the car works now, everything including the heated seats and the rear defrost (weird things to mention I know). The only other things I would really like to do is put in a different head unit with android auto at least and an exhaust system which will probably be a next spring or summer project since I would like to do headers back and build my own.

Still feels sandy and unfinished even though there is multiple coats of primer, paint and clear.
Sealer, then primer, then paint, for next time, or just send to powder ;)

Building headers and an exhaust system on a car like this sounds like a hell of a project!
Have you ever heard a 1uz with the resonators deleted from the stock exhaust system?o_O:drool::hillbilly:

Cams, exhaust and some new heater stuff. Busy weekend doing hunting prep, so truck didn't get too much attention.

Way less exciting than @Cass007 - it appears I selected the appropriate headlight relays!

So now I have working LED dash lights, a functional speedometer/odometer, and headlights again.

Also finally got back to getting the second fender flare shaped and tacked together. Now they’re bolted together to (hopefully) keep them from warping when I lay down the final welds.

Looks pretty close - any chance you have the little triangular bracket it would mount on? Not sure if the FJ55 it came out of would have it or if it just mounted directly to the dash. I’m sure I could fashion up a bracket. The “stock” ship sailed on this truck a long time ago.

Out of curiosity - how does one replace the bulb in something like that?

I didn't think.of the sealer :doh:
Next time I'll probably just do powder coat, but I really wanted to start driving this thing more without vibration and got impatient lol.

It's a labor of love for sure, I grow to love the car more and more every day.

Headers I'll source aftermarket, I believe obx? Makes a set, not cheap but takes the guess work oh of fabricating, then just a factory set of cats, and then I'd like to do 2.5" all the way back with a x pipe in the middle, I'd like to keep the factory resonators but delete the mufflers, I think the exhaust note is quite comfortable like that.

Is there an advantage? Just longer lasting? The dash lights were super dim but I feel like the exterior lights aren’t as much of a problem. The headlights are already converted to H4’s which was a huge improvement over the super dim sealed beams.

Much improved - now that I see it in the dark. The “dimmable” LED’s don’t play that nicely with the dimmer switch (basically have two settings - bright across 90% of the dimmer switch throw, less bright in the last 10% then off. But really I’d run these pretty much full bright all the time anyway.
