I hope your transfer case already has the gear that drives the PTO gearbox. Did you get the gearbox, shifter, and driveshaft? How about the support bearing for the driveshaft? These winches are pretty strong and you can make 'em as fast as you want with the throttle. Can't wait to see it mounted and working on your truck!

Thanks Gary I did not know about the gear in the transfer case. I did get the gearbox, shifter and driveshaft with a nice pillow block still in place. It was missing the spud shafts that connect to both the winch and gearbox. Guy said he got it in a barter from someone around Schoeneck, would that be one of the Merkey’s?

Working on the white cruiser since the radiator sprung a small leak and seems MANY of the bolts and hoses have never been off the truck before. Started doing baselining and have gotten to the crank removal and no joy after ~12 times with the starter bump and 3/4" breaker bar on a 30mm socket. Couple of questions ...

Can the AC condensor be moved out of the way forward maybe 2", then I can at least get my Kobalt 1/2" impact on it (650ft/lbs). Do you think that is enough to break it loose? I have access to a Milwaukee impact with closer to 1000ft/lbs if needed, but the condensor is in it's way as well.

Do I need actelene to heat the bolt, or will propane work?

Would be willing to purchase an air powered impact good to 1000fl/lbs, but would need to run it off my PowerTank setup and need to see the overall length to know if it will fit on the bolt or not. Anyone have or using this:

A good 1/2" impact should loosen it, but I'd try the breaker bar method more.

If you can slip a piece of pipe over your breaker bar, that could help stiffen it up. The bar could be flexing a bit.

@Cass007 last year doing the timing belt o my Ridgeline the crank bolt just laughed at my 1100 fl lb Milwaukee inmact. The starter method worked. I have never had the starter method fail.

Have a friend coming over with a torch. Hoping to get this done this moring. Starter method has tried and failed many times now. I've done it before on the other trucks without issue. Almost positive that this truck has never had many of the bolts loose since the factory.

Be careful with that torch, there's rubber in the harmonic balancer.

If you can slip a piece of pipe over your breaker bar, that could help stiffen it up. The bar could be flexing a bit.

There have been times I may have used a pipe over the breaker bar - and then pulled on it with the mini-excavator…

Sorry, busy days yesterday and today. No torch used, used a pipe over the breaker bar and just about lost a knuckle and broke a 14mm deep socket on the flywheel bolt. Lucky the socket failed before the bolt did. Hard to see, but it's cracked in 2 places and out of round as well.

We also hit it with some penetrating oil I had never seen before (orange spray can with "The Oil That Creeps" as a tag line. He swears by it. Anyway, we decided to try the starter one more time before pushing it outside and firing up the torch and low and behold it came right off. Best part was that the balancer came off super easy as soon as the bolt was out. WIN.

Plugs ... looks like a valve cover gasket and new plug gaskets are in the future:

Everything else went pretty much drama free, just some swearing and bruises all over my hands and forearms. Here is the lineup of completed maintenence with all new parts:

Oil pump seal
Radiator
Radiator hoses
Water Pump
Idler pulleys (both)
Distributor O-ring
Distrubutor cap gasket
Distributor Cap
Rotor
Plugs
Plug Wires
Air Filter
Blue fan clutch
Thermostat
Cleaned Tuna Can
Fresh Coolant
All top of the motor hoses
New OEM clamps on all hoses

Judging by the other 80s I would guess that this one never had any maintenece other than the POs replaciong whatever broke, never doing things pre-emptively because the truck is 22 years old. A big chunk is done now thanks to @beno (Onur Claus) and having a week of free time. Next up will be the front axles since they look dry as a bone.

Santa didn't hook me up this year, but Onur Claus came through like a CHAMP

A special thanks to @jamarquardt22 for helping me do all of this the last itme on the Cammo rig. His help allowed me to learn how to do these things and now it's a known skill. I'm still hella slow, but can get this done now.

Still have new hood struts and hatch struts to install and the Gamaviti gears for the seats too. Also think I will try LEDs in the cluster and see how they last.

Yep - Kroil. I don't typically reach for it first since it is more expensive. But if the basic stuff doesn't work, Kroil typically does.
