I never used a cradle and have moved a lot of engines over the years. I put an unmounted tire down on the bed and sit the oil pan right on it, then put another unmounted tire against the front of the bed. Ratchet strap the engine to the front of the bed with the second tire sandwiched in there and you're good to go. Secure the engine at top and bottom and it won't move at all. Done it dozens of times. In my garage I have two small roller buggies that I'll sit an engine on, and they also fir in a four wheeled tore dolly. It's pretty hard to damage an F or 2F oil pan unless you bang it around. Gary
The garage looks awesome, I'm jealous! My garage, even though the walls are painted a fairly bright shade of white, is dark. I need more lights but in the cold weather fluorescents don't get particularly bright especially right after being turned on.
And here's what I've been working on for myself. Todd O's old 80. have been busy cleaning it up and got some new tires mounted, 315 BFG All terrains. Pulled the sliders off to replace the y pipe and cats, and did the pesky heater hose last week. I have the cuts on my hands to prove it! real happy with the 80 everything works well, it's cool looking and rides and runs very well.

That is why I went with samsung T8 4000k LED bulbs. They have a nice daylight color and are instantly on, regardless of temperature. They are a little pricey at $19 a bulb...especially when your plan calls for 40 :/ but the efficiency and operating theater lighting makes up for it.

Are any of you stihl fans? I have an MS271, MS390 and and MS461. I recently decided to modify my MS390 by opening up the muffler significantly and then tuning the carb to get the most power out of the saw.
In order to tune the high speed screw on the carb you really need a tach to ensure you don't run it too lean and too fast...that'll burn up your bearings. I figured since I needed a tach, I might as will french it into the filter cover, it also shows hours. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

13,080 RPM at wide open throttle.

No working, just enjoying it. Drove it to work multiple times this week. 50+ degrees in December and no salt on the roads! LOVE IT!!!! Some bigger projects planned when the salt does fly, but more on that later.

I posted this up in greater detail in the tech forum, but thought I'd post it here too. My truck has been "chugging" with the clutch out for as long as I've owned it. Always chalked it up to bad clutch adjustment or the throw-out bearing, but now I'm beginning to think it's the transmission.

refinished some insulation for an 80. just have to run the soon to be U-bolts through a break, to get them to a more usable U shape than the I shape they are currently in.
That gives you traction on the rocks!!! Cork screws right up!
Greg- that driveshaft is BAD! I've seen it before on several 80 series- you ain't the first to twist their shaft! Your pinion seal ain't so hot either................
