These holes are empty on my cruiser, but it looks like they're threaded, so something is supposed to go there. Anyone know?

Same hole, same threads and same nothing. Owned it since ‘85 and now I’ve got something new to ponder.

Relocated the fog lights.

1st pic shows the angle of the support bracket from behind.

Edit: 2nd glance, your pic looks like a different location.

2nd swing.

There’s a rear bracket on a PTO winch that could be a candidate.

Looks like your closet has been moved to the garage…happy wife….happy life.
🤣 I thought the 40 was moved into the closet until I saw the door opener

These holes on the PTO are in the front and use a bolt in the bumper that without has a cartridge bolt.

Sure did have it backwards..Regardless, I don’t think it’s for the PTO rear bracket.
Maybe something in the chassis FSM.

My 1983 FJ45 Troopy has the same hole on each side, FWIW. Looks to be M12 but I haven't figured out the thread pitch yet. I didn't see anything in the parts diagrams.

Ok, I nicked this pic from @Curtice. That’s my third swing at this puzzle. 🧩 Maybe he can shed some light.

BTW Beautiful LC. 🏆

If you’re suggesting those hose clamps, they are a few inches away from the holes in question.

And that’s my last swing and a miss. 😂 Sulking off to the bench to throw the water cooler at the 3rd base Umpire.

@73FJ40 is probably on to something..

Holy Cr*p!

That mirror-like finish black paint is orders of magnitude too nice for an FJ40.

That is what you might find on a purpose built rig for a SEMA show

Put differently: Damned Impressive! I love black vehicles and yours is Spec-Tacular (two words)!

Things may not be as they appear.

Thanks!

It’s actually “Brown”. It kinda changes color depending on the lighting.

Back to the mystery holes…I think @73FJ40 may be on to something.

Yeah for sure, that was a swing and a miss.

My observation has nothing to do with your hose clamps. The illustration in my post is for brake tubing.

I was just commenting that I thought you were on the right track.
