I finally figured out a nice solution for onboard drinking water storage for my 200 series that secured the water pretty well in case of sudden braking. I used a 2 gallon water rotopax container with a spout kit.
I have the 3rd row seats removed and used one of the mounting holes to secure a flange I had a welder fab up for me. I used flexible sheet metal to get just the right bend to follow the contour of the inside of the cruiser and then had him copy it with steel.
Since I took the pictures I’ve added a better shutoff valve on the spout and a uniseal with a threaded nipple for an air vent on the top.

I wonder why they don’t make a 3 or 4 gallon water version like their fuel packs. Then you could maximize that space from the back of the seat to the tailgate.

Well done

My ghetto solution is an igloo cooler and bottled water. This is way better.

How many cups of ramen will that make?

:hillbilly:

2 Gallons of water = 256 fluid ounces
1 cup instant maruchan noodles requires about 10 ounces of hot water.

256/10=25.6; assuming heating the water to boil doesn't evaporate/loss of water volume, OP's water container will make 25 cups of ramen, with 6 oz water left.

There is a 4-Gallon version made by ExpediionOne - called the "Geri" - it looks like the 4 Gal Fuel RotoPax.
On warning, though - through a convolution of patent issues, it looks similar but doesnt fit directly to the Rotopax mounts, so you have to buy their mount, but it works exactly the same.

Any details on your spout?

@cboyd
I got the spout off amazon from gowesty. It worked alright but I upgraded it to a lead free quarter turn ball valve that I like more. The gowesty spout has a nice adapter piece though so id still reccomend it.

I appreciate the creativity and fabrication. I'm sure this is useful for long boondocking stints or 3rd world countries where bottled water isn't as accessible?

Maybe I'm lazy or not environmentally friendly. But this is what I usually do. 5.28 pre-loaded gallons.

I mostly wanted something secure in case of a sudden stop or accident or rollover situation there’s isn’t a lot of water weight flying around the cab. Plus I get my water from a spring I’ve drank from since I was a child and I’m kind of a water snob for it.

If you get the larger 1 liter bottles from Costco, you can cram three in each 2nd row door...and 2 in each front door for 10 easy-gran liters total. Then I throw more in an alubox and I’m good for drinking water for most trips, since other beverages go in coolbox and fridge...

Still a waste! What about the caps and resources to recycle? Anybody who has spent time in and around the ocean will agree.

Easiest way to find someone that doesn’t give a sh*t about the environment. It’s the guy holding a plastic water bottle.

Get better, buy a reusable bottle.

Wow.
That’s quite a declaration about anyone seen with a water bottle...
-Pretty sure others make a worse negative declarations when they see you/us driving an LC/LX...

-Are they right? ;)

I’m in San Diego. On the ocean.
I volunteer picking up beach trash regularly.
-I use bottles for wheeling trips in the boonies...and I save/recycle/pack them out underneath the garbage bag inside my Trasheroo.

But anyway...

A bit of overstatement to say that just because people sometimes uses disposable containers, whether from Costco or a cup from a restaurant, that they don't care about the environment. Many people say the same thing about all of us who drive Land Cruisers, or even any fossil-fueled vehicle. I am very concerned about marine pollution but I am pretty sure we in the USA, Canada, and W.Europe are doing a relatively good job of containing and processing our waste and getting better. 200 owners are a genteel group (probably because they are so expensive) not dirtballs who flick cigarette butts and trash out the window.
