Just picked up my first 8274 for my 79 series.

looking at all the other 8274’s in this thread the remote line fixes to the centre of the solenoid cover.

Has mine be modified or did they ever come factory from Warn as such.

Looks like the newer contactor style box. Plug on the side? Date code is 6/10 1978 or 1988

Yours has been modified.

Looks (on the outside) to be in good condition though.

You can buy a new cover where the plug comes out the front..way more convenient for accessing the winch power in/out

Mine was a real piece of... work. At least I paid way too much for it.

this was floating in the main case, along with some smaller bits...

Finally totally redone and installed in my 24V BJ74.

Did you convert it to 24v or are you just running it 'as-is'?
I acquired another one at the same auction a few months ago. It needs a new solenoid pack and am contemplating getting the 24v pack from Montana Jacks and running that on the 12v motor...if the motor doesn't last, then I'll change the motor out later. I've read several posts where people just run 24v on the 12v winch, with no issues. I'm a very occasional user of the winch, but I've had a few times this year where I needed one on my Troopy and need to get it rebuilt and installed before next spring.

Got the winch off the cradle. Time for a little polish and clean up.

Also ordered an Albright solenoid and new cable boots.
Did you land on what you are going to run motor wise for 24v? I've been reading up on just running a 9.5xp motor with 24v vs 12v and sounds like they can take it. I just need to swap to a 24v solenoid, so I am thinking Albright as well.
