Hell Igot mine for $700 and in 10 yrs I've spent enough to by a used 2003 100 series!

A couple of things. As someone said, you will end up putting money into it as you put mods on. You need to be sure that you will be happy with this 72 vs a 78 or 82. Sounds like a good deal. Next thing you want to do i figure out exactly what you would have to do to go through it and fix what needs fixin. Even a runnng cruiser could have a lot that needs fixin. There is a big cruiser presence in the Denver area. You probably could get one of us to come look at it if you want.

I'm in the white pages, or you can post here.

Seems to me it would be hard to go wrong at that price. I got mine in 2001 and paid $3500 for it. I've spent at least double that amount bringimg it back. Worth every penny to me though. I hope you get it.

IT sounds like a fair price BUT BEFORE YOU buy it I highly recomend 2 things!

1. Is this the cruiser YOU want! Just because it is a good deal doesn't mean it is good for you! I leaned the hard way TWICE, first I bought a 69 fj-40 that was a good deal! It is a fun wheeler but I NEEDED a winter driver. This thing was a total Frankencruiser that has more good PO mods than any other rig I have seen. Then I bought a 71 fj-55 a good deal too and I love the rig, it is a GREAT project but OH s*** I still need something to drive in the winter until the 55 is up to snuff. SO now I am buying an fj60 because it is snowing here RIGHT NOW and I need a winter driver NOW. I still have my 40 and my 55 and plan to get the 55 fixed up as a tow rig and winter driver and my 40 is great because it was cheep and I can wheel it HARD and not care what happens to it.

2. How many modifications has the previous owner(PO) done to it. I own a rig that is a total PITA to work on because it is loaded with PO mods. I bought it off ebay and it was my first LC so I had no idea what i was looking at. Some mods had been done poorly and I have NO idea what other stuff is. When I bought it it had a ???ford radiator and a ???? 2f conected to a ?? 3speed floor shifter with NO lincage on the TC so you have to get out and crawl under the rig to shift it. It has homemade drive shafts with a Offenhouser intake and 4barel Holley that runs so rich it makes your eyes burn to stand neer the thing when it is running, a 9 gallon fuel tank, seats that came out of a boat, no gauges, no wiring harness or fuses just all yellow wiring on the bare esentials so it would run.

bottom line after all my ranting is just because it is a good deal doen't make it a good deal for you. You really need to look at your needs/wants and see if this rig will meet them. I have poor impulse control and have been buying LC like I am collecting baseball cars. Don't get me wrong I LOVE all of my 3 soon to be 4 LCs but if I had to do it over agin I would have made diffrent decisions.

BTW there is a good deal on a 55 I am having a hard time resisting right now. not offilated but someone please buy it and save me from myself.

That is probably more than any of you wanted to read or know but my, about 83 cents worth.

Poseidon is right. Make sure it is the right LC for you. I bought my '70 FJ-40 for 3K and was in similiar condition. With three kids I sometimes think a wagon or even ambulance doors would have been worth the wait. Don't get me wrong, I love my Cruiser and have learned how to use it. After 3 years I wouldn't change it.

I agree with Poseidon also.

I have re-evaluated the FJ and my current situation and have decided to not purchase it after all...

I think I'm going to wait and save a little longer and get something in a little less need of help...

If there is anyone in the Dever / CO area that might be interested in this FJ, send me your info and I will pass it along to the seller...

Thanks again for all the input....
