Hello all,

I'm working on my vortec swap and had planned on taking a video of the stock tach for a 0-60 or 80 run.. then another after the swap to show the difference in split screen.

But.. I forgot to get the video from stock config, and now the engine is out and sitting on the ground.

So.. can someone around 5500lbs, 315s, stock gears, and a stock engine maybe get a video of the tach doing a 0-60 or 0-80? It won't exactly be scientific but might be entertaining.. once I get things done anyway.

Definitely no rush.. I won't even have the swap done for a month at least.

I am on 37s with stock gears and engine but i am basically at sea level so I live with it. My 0-60 is best described as "maybe" when my friends ask. We call the skinny pedal in my ride the volume pedal as that all that changes when you floor it.
 
I didn't see one for 0-60 on 315s with a stock engine and gearing. Which is why I requested that specific combination.

And yes, I know it is very slow.

can you give me a short run down on what all it takes to swap in the vortec. and what exact engine you recommend. I am looking at trying to get a deal on a crate engine and maybe doing the swap myself if I think I can handle it. I have all the tools and engine hoist etc. and a shop to do it in. and for sure what you think of yours if it is all complete now. thanks for your time.

See the 80 series v8 swap thread that is stickied in this forum. Lots of my swap was documented there.

And I never got the stock tach video but this is with the v8

@bloc I have that setup, could probably shoot a 0-60 on my way home. Won't be able to do up to 80 with traffic and short stint of on ramp before having to slow down.

Thanks.. 60 is fine (mine probably hits 80 earlier anyway) and no rush. I probably won't have time to edit the video into a comparison until I get back from a trip in August. Either way I'll figure out how to get the video file from you and edit it into a side-by-side.
