I haven't called anyone no. Spending a thousand bucks on 35 year old brass isn't super appealing to me.
Seems like for that much money you should get a spare out of the deal.

Besides, didn't yours leak after they rebuilt it?
Rookie did it. The boss fixed it, made it right. Shipped back free, warranty. I’ve got my truck
all set now, can have rad out in 3 min. I also had drain moved so it’s a vertical tap into the bucket.
Clean and no spilling or splashing.

Portable BBQ… I’ve got a Q100 and it’s been great for cooking everything from garlic bread, to corn, to steak, to burgers… and they hardly use any fuel to boot.

per add it has a new grill… and everything is available for Webber grills

1969 hard top complete. Does anyone have the contact info for that fellow in Port Alberni who has
a barn full of parts? I knew him 20 yrs ago but lost touch

Suspect I'll be needing a 12v bj60 alternator. 83 ish

Mine seems to have a dead short. Haven't looked inside it yet to see if it's something silly, but figure I should start the search.

If the 60 was rolling I'd be looking at adapting new options, but with swmbo a little paranoid about fires I'm trying to leave her car at home as much as I can.

Had to do a jump start down the big hill at work last night and haul ass home before it got dark with no lights or battery.

Guess it's a good thing I didn't bring it down to Victoria the other day...

Yep, typical cruiser alt.

I drove it to work again today after leaving the charger on all night.
It's not that big a deal in the summer, I went so minimalist with the wiring the only thing drawing power is the gauges...and that's IF I leave the key on

I can send a link for where in Aus I bought mine if you want to spend for that. I got a NEW Bosch from them for the 12HT.
Their remans are reputable though, wouldn't think you'd have a problem. Prices are reasonable, and shipping for my new
120A alternator for the 12HTm( different company supplier, but same cost within $ ) was with Australia Post - Express Post International: $97.59

Yeah sure. I was just browsing AUS eBay. About 360 plus 100 shipping. So 500 bucks by the end once the government sticks their hand out.

Interestingly, partsouq list a 24v alt that's quite cheap, 130 (possibly usd). Nothing 12v I've found tho.

I'll hold off for a bit before buying in case someone pipes up with a cheap option. If I'm buying a new turbo a fridge and a couch this month I need to spread out the love a little....

Need to have a proper dig through my shed too in case I have one .

Thanks, I was trying to remember where I saw that.

This here is probably cheaper than even getting the diodes fixed on my dead one.

Not certain if it's internally regulated or not.
I'll do a bigger search later, that was just a quick result.

So, do you need internally regulated or no?

I have a 50a spare out of the troopy, replaced for what I thought was an 80a rebuild I scored in brizzy… but isn’t.

HJ47 alternators are externally regulated.

reasonable terms if needed, but it looks like you’re in search of new and more amps than my old junk will provide.

cheers
Crusty

Thanks, I'm set up for internal reg at the moment, so I was leaning towards that.

I'm not too worried about the amps. I've been fine with the wimpy stock amps forever, so I don't think it's a big deal

This is the one I was eyeballing.

80amp which is probably about 10x what the worn out one I had was putting out.

What company did you buy from?
I went looking but my current stress level and travel plans got in the way. I’ll try this afternoon. Gonna be sitting

It sounds to me like things are going quite well with containing that fire. This one is 110 amp for a bit more money.

Just thinking about the electrical upgrades I might have to make to get that in...not to mention it has a triple pully which probably means it'd damn near stall a 3b at full load

Pretty sure the previous one is internally regulated, and the same as the one mentioned in that other thread. It's 70 amp which is still a big upgrade over the old one.

It's not in stock for a week, so no panic to order anything I guess.

I can turn a bigger belt groove into that pully if need be.

There’s a good chance you can swap your Toyota pulley onto the new one. I converted a 120 amp alternator with a serpentine pulley to a V-belt. The only theoretical issue is that a 1/2” V-belt is recommended for up to 100 amps. That said, it has been doing the job fine for 25 years now.

Yeah could be. Or modify it to fit. I have a few old pulleys around and a 120 year old lathe, so I'm sure I can figure something out.

Haven't really decided which way to go. Don't think I really need 110 amps on a truck with hardly any electrics.
