It's always impressive the organization that land rovers can put on. They had that camel trophy comp, that Darian gap. I guess it's usually funded by wealthy British people but it's still always an impressive operation.
Back when Land Rover carried some weight, I lived in Africa and never even so much as knew Toyota
Land Cruisers existed. Land Rovers everywhere. Of course my old man bought a Ford Falcon.
But cars were really expensive over there, still are. I’d get a 110 if the right one showed up tomorrow.

Well it’ll be Feb 1 is going to be here in a few minutes… anyone going to brave the rain and/or ? To be there at 2pm? I’ll come if other people are coming, but don’t care to be the only Landcruiser in the parking lot.

That said, if I pop the 40s hood, it’s possible that more people will gather around than one of the last meetings I made it to at the 6 mile.

Yup I will be there at 2pm still
Look forward to meeting you face to face. Now just need to heard some more cats.

Although, I don’t blame those who live north of the Malahat… the road isn’t the problem, it’s the stupid people with all seasons that don’t know how to drive and the limits of their vehicles (especially 4x4s). :grinpimp:

I used to wait when everyone was heading home early to avoid bad road conditions… that way all the drivers rushing home would either be there or stuck somewhere. Either way there was less of a chance of them running into me.

I remember in ‘96 when breaking a trail into the gas station in Esquimalt… each run I only made it 6-8’ before I had to dig out and take another run.
Buddy in his stock pathfinder told me to get out of the way because he was down to 1/2 a tank of gas. I told him I’d be out of his way soon enough.
The next run I took he came driving up behind me and tried to drive around my truck. He tried blazing his own way. One tire got out of the trail id blazed and then his vehicle came to a dead stop when two of his other tires hit the undisturbed snow… he sheepishly backed out to the road and didn’t say another word.

I figured if I couldn’t get through without digging out in a 40 with 950 kg on the front and 1150 kg rear, and a strong V8… he wouldn’t get through with his 4 cylinder in a stock Pathfinder.

That was the day he learned to never under estimate a 40!
He backed out, shut off his truck and ate an extra large serving of humble pie.

Sorry I was not able to make it I was away having a cruiser meet of my own.
