What did those re-cores cost roughly out of curiosity?

A new fj60 rad is about 500 bucks shipped from rockauto.

If that is a good quality rad that is a great price. Be aware of subtle differences like core thickness/quality etc. I've found even a 48mm vs 54mm core can be quite significant in terms of high load cooling. Course I run a 2LTE which is on the verge of nuclear melt down when under high load....lol.

To answer your question, I asked for the best and thickest core they could possible do for me. Ran around $900, but was 4 core 64mm thick. Weighted in at ~37lb empty, haha. Year or so later and so far so good; no issues.

When I first called about a stock core they were suggesting around $500-600 or so.

Yeah, it's an FJ rad, so the top outlet is the wrong side, but the thermostat housing can be clocked that way.

I've read the fj outlets are smaller, but I was thinking of cutting my lower hose to put a coolant heater fitting in anyways.

Looks like it has the oil cooler for an auto tranny in it.

Suppose a guy could use that for power steering, or a hot water shower

Here's the page. They list the same two for every year fj60 by the look of it. One is a hundred bucks more than the other, not sure why...

Those look really not bad at all actually; core thickness is good. If shipping is reasonable those would be a good option. Would be nice to read a review if someone on mud has bought them before though...

I like the idea of having the inlet and outlet on opposite sides. I like to think that might offer more even flow through the core. My rad has inlet/outlet on the same side...I should have asked to have it changed, oh well. When I've looked at my rads with a thermal camera just one side was warm...but maybe t-stat hadn't opened all the way yet and there was not enough coolant flowing to heat the whole thing up.

Haha, I like your shower idea. Course with a 12HT, it would be luke warm at best.

I'll have to do more digging, the blurb says the tanks are engineered virgin resin or something....whatever the hell that is

Pic looks like metal tho, but who knows. Could just be a generic blurb.

I guess the other one (without a pic) doesn't have the oil cooler, which you'd think would make it cheaper. Maybe it's metal tank vs plastic?

Shipping is about 90 bucks I think.

I'm not in a panic or anything, truck is a few weeks from running regardless.

Did a bit more digging on 60 rads, in case anyone is interested, ( as I hide in the basement from those who believe I control the weather with my mind)

Sounds like the CSF2708 is in fact all metal. CSF Radiator 2708 CSF All-Metal Radiators | Summit Racing - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/csf-2708

Also found them on ebay, where a few reviewers have said they fit an fj60 with no issues.

Cheaper on rockauto of course. Seems like it's available a lot of places, might even try calling lordco about it.

Bit harder to find info on the OSC-12. The part number is too short to be easily searched...seems to cost more for reasons unknown.

I haven't called around about a recore yet either.

Standard size connecting rod bearings for 2h/12ht.

Fit most 12ht's, just not mine.

I can return them for a refund but I'll have to pay for shipping.

They were 109 plus tax, so call it 100 cash.

If there's no takers in a few days I'll package them up and return them

ISO - pair of 60 series factory rear side window rubber mouldings.
Don‘t need the glass, I’m going to cut them. But they have to be in good
enough shape to be usable. I’m cutting them with the grain, not against the grain

Guy must be ok. Throwing in the Ridgeback, too?

Same guy, but selling in Chilliwack. How the heck did he spend $30K rebuilding the body?

that would have to be a very special ridgeback.

tempted to ask for interior pics. That’s a chunk for a 400k truck

Someone will buy it. People are crazy right now overpaying for everything. A year of face diapers and oxygen depravation has dropped the collective IQ dramatically.

$43.5 k for a truck with 450,000 km and no indication of mechanical work. I know the engine and drivetrain are tough… but seriously?

Even if he actually spent $30 k on bodywork, was the truck he started with worth $13.5k… given it needed $30 k of body work? More power to him if he can get it… I sure miss the days of $1500 driving Fj45s and $100 parts trucks.

People are buying houses 220k over ask with no conditions, not even a home inspection. Any boat or RV sells for way more than its wort. I have no idea what's going on but people are crazy right now. I wouldn't touch it but there are a lot of people with more money than brains out there these days.

I've really been noticing this too. I think it's inflation starting to run away a bit. I don't think people have tons of money so much as debt.

All the more reason to keep my old cruiser on the road and running well. Certainly can't justify cost of most newer vehicles I'd be interested in regardless.

You have nailed it. Modern Monetary Theory MMT. People can't figure out dollars are not wealth they are a measure of wealth. You can divide a mile into smaller and smaller units but it's still a mile. The whole world he's headed down the path of Zimbabwe or the Weimar Republic. The financial system broke in 2008 because of debt and we've tried to fix it with more debt. People just don't care what it costs anymore as long as they can make the payments. The world has gone nuts.

You are close, but don’t use poor Zimbabwe or some other country with an uneducated society. Think USA or Canada, instantaneous results demanded by people who should be enlightened cause they certainly aren’t uneducated. We are all smart enough to figure this out, but the last 4-6 yrs have proven that what we want is a
a plutocracy not a democracy. We worship the Gods of Wealth, nothing else any more. There was a time when
the wealthy actually invested back into society, 100 yrs ago. But not any more. Not unless it’s solely for the
purpose of more wealth.

Too many compressors… this one’s listed. Great little pump. 14 amp, “2.5 hp”, 4.1 CFM @ 90 PSI, 4.3 gallon.
I’ve listed it for $125 obo… I’ll consider trades and give other mudders a discount. $125 is testing the waters… and I’ll see where it goes.

$50 cash &/or trade… for cruiser junkies.

Sold

Called ladysmith bumper to bumper out of curiosity to see if there was anything available, and the FJ60 rad he has listed was a spectra premium CU12.

Typed that into the google machine and got this wrench monkey page with a s*** ton of cross reference part numbers. Some of them I've seen before.

Not sure if that's the direction I'd go or not, but free shipping has it under 500 bucks.

The CSF2708 seems to be all over the internet if a guy needs a rad in a hurry. Options at least.

Did you call Sherwood radiator in Port Alberni just to get a quote?
