Looking into installing fresh body and transmission mounts on my rig. Hoping to reduce the decibels of noise inside so I don't have to wear earplugs...can anyone provide advice or pitfalls of my plan? There are aftermarket poly and stock rubber-is one material better than another? I'll probably remove/break the bolts and shim the body on cribbing to get the new mounts in. Somehow.

Also, the rear hatch door is crying out for attention, rattles like a banshee. Please share your experiences with that...weatherstripping, new gas struts, welding in new threaded inserts into the hardtop, etc.

Thanks all,

Dave

Dave,

I'm afraid that body and transmission mounts aren't going to do a thing for your noise issue. You need to look into sound deadening materials to drop the noise inside.

Yes, I am just grasping at straws since new springs and shocks are beyond my current budget. OME springs are the answer I believe. Thanks for your response.

Any other comments from anyone regarding this and/or the rear hatch noise? Maybe I should just get a soft top and stash the hard top & rear hatch door for later...

Cheers,

Dave
